    Maybe it was a signal from earth. Don't signals like radio waves bounce around in space anyways? I'd love to meet aliens for real though but at the same time wouldn't. This world just isn't mature enough yet.

    ET phoning us? If true, it'd be both exciting and terrifying at the same time for all involved. Some folks are not and never will be ready to be unplugged from the Matrix should it happen.

    Given the signal hasn't been repeated (at least not yet), and the sadly, rather shaky foundation on what we know about it, it seems more likely to me that it's a random occurrence, finding a pattern that may not actually be a pattern, or a signal of some astrophysical phenomenon we don't quite understand yet. We're measuring signals in a universe that pretty much pumps out noise across the entire electromagnetic spectrum, if you measure long enough, you're going to get some random occurrences that look like they're more than meets the eye.

    Now, if we start getting this signal with more detail than just a burst, or if we're able to tie it back to a single location...
