I had always wanted to see the movie as a kid, but it constantly eluded me. One time I rented it, but the tape was actually just a collection of G1 Dinobot episodes. I don't remember which ones, probably the first couple with them in it. Next time I watched the show was probably the first couple of episodes on YouTube or the time I bought a tape of The Ultimate Doom, yet again, thinking it was the movie.

I did eventually see the movie. Hyped it up so much that I ended up hating it. Watched it again down the line and thought it had some cool stuff going on. Then I kept watching it until I loved it.

I should note I was a late Beast Era/Armada kid, so this is way after the fact.

The Movie, via uncle coming over. It was the first DVD release that included a small preview regarding the live action movie, with a beaten up peterbilt in it at some point? Has anyone else seen that thing?

Actual episodes are probably....MTMTE, found through YT waaaay back when.

I can't recall the very first episode I saw (though I do remember being floored by the promo commercial for the comic book in the spring of '84 and thinking WTF was that?!!), but The Bozo Show on WGN was exactly how experienced the first two seasons of TFs, too. I lived in Alabama from '84-86 and the Chicago Superstation is what aired most of the cool syndicated kids shows at the time. I remember how pissed I'd get when I'd come home looking forward to watching Thundercats and it'd be preempted for Cubs baseball! Good times. Thank God for G1 DVDs, though.

My first episode was "A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court," and to this day it's actually one of my favorite episodes. The thing I love about Transformers is that it can be totally serious or totally goofy and nonsensical or a mix of both even, but it can still be Transformers and very enjoyable.

I think it was Heavy Metal War? (Was that when Devastator made his debut?)

The very first one (aka More Than Meets the Eye Pt 1), on Saturday September 17, 1984. Hooked from the very first words.
