I disagree with Prime not being psycho ... he very much presents as a psycho... hes straight cruel in ROTF and DOTM. Highly intelligent, given to wordy speeches, fits of uncontrolled rage. Your assessment, while well written, misses the ENTIRE point. It's not that Optimus kills, it's how he does so. Movie Prime kills in extremely painful ways, and spouts one liners while doing so. He has no remorse for his killing either, sans the first movie, which did a really good job of portraying his character. AOE restored this, as he showed occasional restraint.

Movie Primes fighting and killing style is inspired by the movies director, and while I like where they're headed, I didn't care for him having Prime kill with glee. Trying to justify Prime ripping off heads like Subzero, with the idea of 'It's your rose colored, nostalgic memory", is a copout.

Sylvester Stallone and Chuck Norris play characters that kill, but no one would confuse Rambo and Walker Texas Ranger.

And when I saw that in the theater, I proclaimed "It's about F'n time he did that to Megs.

And I don't think he went far enough there. He pulled his fist back out, where I think he should have lifted his arm up.
Optimus should have left The Fallen in more pieces than he did.

And I have no problem with any of these. Quick, decisive, and to the point; and not namby-pamby "gee, I'm sorry that I hurt the bad guys" type non-sense.

I love the idea of a cinematic universe with spin-offs and the like. However, I just don’t believe it can be achieved with the current film “canon”. We all know there is no canon to speak of. Each subsequent film has almost completely overridden the film that’s come before it. It’s been this way since ROTF and will no doubt continue with TF5. If they really want to create a “Transformers Cinematic Universe” (which is a great idea on paper), then I think they need to press the reset button first. Its still early days. It’s not too late for Paramount to smell the coffee.

Also, I think Lorenzo di Bonaventura is poison. The man needs to go. Just like how Avi Arad was holding back the Spider-Man franchise for a decade, Bonaventura has been doing the same to the Transformers franchise. This man is actually more of a hazard than Michael Bay. Trust me. Sony got rid of Avi Arad so they could work with Marvel, finally giving the Spider-Man franchise a shot in the arm it has needed for years. The same needs to happen with Bonaventura. As long as he’s still a producer the Transformers franchise will never move on. There’s a reason why Don Murphy used to call him “Scorponok” on his forum.

Yeah I would love to see a reboot myself.

The idea of a universe sounds cool:

You could have a separate more "outerspace" movie like the IDW MTMTE Lost Light. You could go with all the Sunbow/Hasbro shows... Gi Joe crossover, InHumanoids, M.A.S.K.

I would LOOOVE a InHumanoids movie!

While I think this is generally accurate, I also feel that Movie Prine's apparent mental illness, while hysterical, is a product of the movies themselves' bizarre racist/misogynistic/xenophobic subtexts and attitudes. Within the context of the Movieverse, nationalism, contempt for and dehumanization of one's enemies, myopic fits of rage, etc. are not to be abhorred as overly simplistic and juvenile, but lionized as "true" heroism.

Also notable is that the good Rambo movies are the ones where he's a tragic character instead of a damn superhero...

Not to stop anything, because I'm having a barrel of laughs on the periphery here, but how is it that the thread about Paramount's dumb plans for a TFCU became another weirdly over defensive flamewar about Movie Prime's unbridled heroism? :lol

Probably because it's the only consistent thing across all four films?

I'm sure it'll be handled poorly but as long as 3A makes more figures of this stuff I'm happy

Based on what he was attached to in the past I have no hopes for this. Guess this means I'll have to change my username if anything comes out of it.

    edit:
Maybe he'll find a way to reinstate the Autobots as friends of earth or retcon other things? *cough*Jazz*cough*

He's another schlock jock, slinging pablum for the goyim masses. He's not talented, he's just connected, and knows how to appeal to the lowest common denominator. If you've ever read an IDW comic you've read something leagues beyond what this schmuck is capable of.

Yeah I think the original show was ahead of it's time. The potential of this project would be high, even Visionaries could fill the void that "The Lord of the Rings" left. Only problem is that Paramount always tend to aims so low. (Bayformers, G.I.Joe, Battleship)

So I'd settle for a decent IDW series and/or an animated show that isn't as ADHD driven as most shows you see on XD and CN.

Hasbro had something with G.I. Joe Resolute but has been dropping the ball with random goofy crap ever since.

It's not that he had a stinker, it's that he had...at least ten he's written and double that he's produced or directed. We all get chances...I draw the line at a couple dozen.
