The problem with that, and why Kickstarter doesn't allow it is, that if the backer backs their own project they are reducing the chance of it's success. The baker has set a goal that is the goal they need to make the project work. If they fund 25% of the goal themselves that's essentially lowering the goal by 25%.

To me that would just mean they're trying to take the money and run since there's no way they could actually fill all the orders at 75% funding.

I don't think you have a right to say that when you've tried to constantly butt in on other people's pledges even after being asked to stop.

I know they don't allow it, and I also said it makes no sense to do it. Even if they found an investor or got a loan, it might make sense to let the KS expire and start over rather than loose all that money to KS and Amazon.

Redid Bloodbath. I missed some detail from the back and the skin color was really off.

Did some of the heads too. Terribull head works well with Desolataur.

A ruckus? We have very different definitions of that word. Either way, it's a topic you insisted on keeping alive, but only by ignoring what people were actually saying. The point of which, btw, has already been reiterated, and ignored by you, on this board since you brought it up.

    Some people don't listen indeed.

A last minute "angel backer" would actually be pretty awful. I'm pretty sure a lot of those $900 backers are still in at that level because they don't think it will fund.

I imagine being unexpectedly on the hook for that $900 would cause some major chaos.

A big part of what I didn't like about this campaign was the pledge-more-than-you-intend-to-pay strategy they used. It made it difficult to gauge how well it was actually doing, and had the potential to screw people if they forgot to lower their pledge before it was over.

Love the concept, a bit underwhelmed by the prototype, and really turned off by the campaign.

I think Terribull goes with Haagenti. Skull-FCKR with Bitemark, but nice photos.

Great stuff! Exactly what should have been shown officially earlier -- digibashes are fine, whereas it's impossible to get a clear idea from block coloured 2D art.

I really don't understand the lack of a comic.

They have at least seven artists on staff and not one of them can do a one-page web comic to promote the line?

    Baffling.

No, I mean what kind of story sells toys, since I was skeptical of things other than TV shows.
Webcomics sell toys when they 1} create their audience in advance, 2} have something to attract the audience. or is just a medium for something with inherent attraction like ... I don't know, stupid but popular novelty themes like pirates VS ninjas?
I'm not seeing that in this case.

    Ah. Now I get it.

Well, Onell Design has done very well with their Passcode games and videos: Glyos | Passcode | Onell Design

Monster High was basically webisodes at launch. That line did quite well at its peak.

Lalaloopsy and the Trashies have done fantastic without television.

World War Robot launched with just comics and online art.

I think TV is the top tier, but for collectors a webcomic or some form of online entertainment would be plenty to push this over the top.

Tossed in a sympathy-order for Catastropheles and Atomic Splatterpus. At this point I doubt the campaign will go through, but if it did I wouldn't mind having that guy and the platypi. Seemed like a low-risk proposition.

In a very kind gesture, the guys behind the Eon Question comic were nice enough to mail out in their update today that their readers might want to look into the Lost Protectors KS before it ends.

So thumbs up to those guys for lending their support.

The latest info from Kicktraq has me scratching my head. Most Kickstarter projects see a surge in the final 48 hours or so, but here we continue to see a drop. I am assuming this is (as many suggested) the $900 supporters are dropping their pledges.

Checking the project I see that yes, two $900 supporters did change their pledge. But it looks like total number of supporters is up from when I last looked.

I've assumed since a couple weeks into this project that there would be a large drop at the end rather than a surge. The $900 option didn't really make sense as a beginning pledge level and i think hurt in the long run.

I'm still holding hope that they take the experience and construct a slimmer, tighter, streamlined project that eliminates a lot of the options and focuses on just the basic few figures. Five or six reward levels at most, only two or three stretch goals announced, and a project that aims for the goal and only really addresses the "after goal" side of the project once the basic goal is met.

If you check the number of pledgers vs. the dollar values, I think we ARE having a surge. 32 new members in the last few days. Problem is, as you say, in that same time we have had 4-5 people formerly at $900 lower their pledges, so the dollar total isn't reflecting the surge of new people. The fact that they are merely $500 down after loosing 4-5 $900 pledges shows that there is money coming in.

Do action figure Kickstarter projects usually START with an "all in" option, or do that add it later once there seems to be a lot of figures unlocked?

In my experienced limited though it is, I have never seen a Kickstarter before that had pledge levels that implied including stretch goals before the stretch goals were met. Stretch goals you should assume will not be met. PWTT seemed to assume they would be based on their initial pledge levels.
