That $80 charge was just a pre-authorization to make sure you have enough funds pay for your order. HTS doesn't usually charge you until after your order ships.

You can try and call their CS to see if you can change the payment method for the outstanding order

Oh, THE LAW. I getcha... :rolleyes2  I was just hoping someone knew WHAT law. Cause as far as I understand interstate commerce, you only charge sales tax IF you have a presence in that State. HTS does NOT have a presence in 46 States. So WHAT law specifically states that they need to collect that tax?

Online retailer tax collection is a fairly new thing that hasn't been passed into law on a Federal level quite yet. So, for example, as of 2014, if you sold $10k in merch in IL, you need to send tax money to IL. But that's ONE State's specific law, and there's no way the other 45 have something similar, as of today.

In the case of Alaska, which does NOT charge sales tax (as HTS implies it does), it makes no sense at all. I understand if they want a surcharge to ship to Alaska, but calling it a "tax" seems highly inappropriate.

It could be that I'm the only one who noticed and/or cares? :lol  Well, they say young people don't really pay attention to taxes...
I was thinking the same: the comic pack-in versions are supposed to come out, so.... But then again, why remove the listings? New item numbers?

Interesting thoughts on the taxes, as BBTS does not charge me for state taxes but HTS does. I'm fine with this as virginia asks for a total of online purchases when you file your taxes, might just have to keep ordering from Hasbro, that way it doesn't affect my return(not that virginia ever gave me much of any tax returns anyway.

RE taxes: I think HTS might have to charge taxes because Hasbro has employees in every state (retail store reps). If Hasbro owns part or all of HTS, that would explain it.

As far as other stores charging taxes, as CaptainMarkVell eluded to, you're supposed to tell your state how much out of state stuff you bought that year and pay the state taxes when you file your income tax each spring. Nobody does it, but you're "supposed to". And its not an internet thing, if you look in old copies of the Sears catalog it says it in the disclaimer on the ordering page. You've been "supposed to" pay your state taxes for out of state purchases since sales taxes were invented.

Not that any individual people file and pay those taxes, but you can't blame HTS for doing what they're legally required to do.

    Several things.

    1) Law mandate that you have to charge state taxes if you have a presence but the original law was not really set up for online stores so I think the wording was value as to whether it was retail stores, distribution centers, or just any physical presence. If anyone can confirm what the original law was and it if was changed that would be great.

    2) Companies can get away with not doing it depending on size and chance of being audited. Amazon got away with not doing it for a long time but finally cave as they got larger. Hasbro does it. BBTS I think only has a presence and distribution center in their home state. I think they might charge tax there. Can anyone confirm? FunPub is headquartered and warehoused in TX. For the longest time they did not charge tax. Can't remember if they changed it. Kinda sucks.

    3) And yes, you're supposed to file and pay separate taxes if not charged. You're also supposed to report and pay taxes on any profit from sales (i.e. ebay, over the boards) but nobody does it. It's too small a number for the IRS to chase.

It is referred to as "use tax." If you haven't paid the government when you purchased something ("sales tax") then you need to pay in order to use it (use tax).

I am not sure whether use tax applies to MISB collectors.

You know, there's this crazy thing called Google, that lets people search for information on the internet. It's weird.

It might also serve you much better than asking fellow toy collectors to serve as your personal Wikipedia.

I am actually wondering if they will actually ship on the 27th, or if the 27th is just a place holder date.

Noone in the US has seen these figures. Not even a sighting.

HTS, to my memory has never been the first store to get anything in the past. With that said, I think the chances of us seeing these next week are very very small.

Well, I figure, I will kill it now, then have that day pass and have the internet explode.

But yet again, if they make the date, all the better.

Then you guys can say, that old fool Alucard, what does he know. And my feelings won't be hurt because I am too excited for my shipping notice.

But if it makes people feel better, there's a first time for everything!

Yet again, I am going to Debbie downer us for a second. I have a theory about Transformers and toys for that matter, that I am not sure is correct or not.

Anyway, I had a friend who unloaded pallets off of those ocean liners. He said, it would get to 130+ in those things with the fans running and the door open.

With the door closed, I am sure those things went over that. Not sure how high, but I am sure they do.

Considering the dock strike happened in California, where it's hot, those containers could very easily be at 130.

Okay, saying that. We know that TF plastic when heated gets bendy. And if it sits in a specific heat and cools. Then it can set in the new place if it is losened there.

So my theory is that is why we sometimes get floppy transformers. They sit in the containers getting hot during the day, and cooling at night.

So that is my fear. Floppier then normal TF.

Hopefully the batch that ships on the 27th won't have any odd qc issues the second batch will have corrected.
