Some people want the original figures brand new & complete, hence the call for reissues of various things. People aren't dumb and unaware of eBay and originals for sale elsewhere.

It'd also be nice to see a cartoon accurate Astrotrain that doesn't go for $300+.

If people wanted just a G1 Astrotrain, then you'd be right.

But the only purple/black cartoon accurate one is a highly sought after e-Hobby exclusive. Hasbro also didn't do cartoon colors for the Classics version even though Takara did.

Yes, because it's not like G1 Optimus Prime hasn't had several dozen re-issues in the past of varying colors that aren't hard to get, so Hasbro has to release another reissue even though the 25th actually didn't sell too well IIRC.

And the smokestacks being too short is a child safety problem - the long ones on the original actually could be broken off and become a choking hazard.

 

Astrotrain reminds me of Topspin.

 

That's not Topspin, that's just more of the same kind of garbage as this Astrotrain. But he is a great example of what to expect from Hasbro - complete careless randomness masquerading as fan service.

Because for every one person that actually likes it there is a few dozen or more that hate it. This leads to them not moving and being dumped off to Ross and other places and stores not wanting exclusives or if they take them they order less. Blitzwing looks awesome in Flywheels' color scheme. Makes me hope an eventual repaint of the Classics voyager happens at some point down the road.

Astrotrain...yeah, it looks pretty bad.

I'm passing but I don't get the "world is ending" mentality in this thread simply because something exists that individuals might not like. Scratch that...it's the Transformers fan base, so I completely understand it

Those look like complete generic knock offs. And I came across the insecticon platinum set at K-Mart and it was $75.00. I was like no F'n way. (can anyone confirm if these platinums are made with die cast metal like the originals) Or are the 100% plastic? Still .RIP OFF! Why wont Hasbro give America both molds of each TF Takara & Hasbro ? Takara (as we all know) are 99% always better. I will not be buying platinums unless they are molded same as the originals with die cast metal parts. Takara please advertise and sell to US stores.

My G2 Dinobots were silvery grey.  

 

Maybe not $80 for these guys, but I'm down for them. Hell if they hit clearance for cheap enough, I'll stock up on them & sell them off in a couple of years for stupid money because they're "rare".... because nobody bought them lol.

Seriously though, I'll probably snag this set just for the absurdity of it. I'm a sucker for weird repaints, and G1 molds so this just fits the bill perfectly.
