    Thank you Metaforge!

Hmm, so he won't be too shrimpy beside MP-10 in vehicle, but tiny enough that it's gonna bug me were he to be considered an MP. Sigh. So close....

Well crap. I was really hoping something would come along that is better and cheaper than MP-09.

    You make good arguments.

Considering the small size of Rodimus his truck mode and the robot being roughly the same size as leader Megatron (or the Cybertron Galvatron), this is more like a leaderclass Classics Rodimus Prime than a MP.

As a robot he can fit in with MP in size alone, but the altmode would be too small.

(Still such a shame that TT didn't cheat a little bit with MP-9 and have the Hot Rod car become the front of the truckmode, like Fansproject.)

Yep, me too. And because I'm a Rodimus Prime fan and this is only the third (true) Rodimus Prime figure in 30 years, and the best looking of them all.

I don't care if he transforms into a My Little Pony. He will remain in bot mode 100% of the time, and if he comes packaged in bot mode, he'll likely never get transformed. While I still think he should be a smaller vehicle and scales just fine as is, ultimately, I couldn't care less. It's all about the 'bot.

Not digging it at all. Looks like an upsized version of Fans Project Protector. Height and fragility aside, MP-09 is going to be extremely tough to top in the looks department.

This is a easy pass as it does not fit aesthetically with the Mp line. Very disappointing! As I was hoping for a better g1 Rodimus than Mp 09. Like their Astrotrain doesn't work for me as well.

Agreed, really don't see the point of these "Classterpiece" figures, they don't really fit in either collection. Which is a shame, because I actually really like Unique Toys, Mania King and Soundmixer are excellent figures.

Classterpiece? Exactly! :lol  I was thinking chugerpiece. But I agree 100% with you. This is absolute fail imo. They should know. I hate when 3rd parties do this.

They do it because not everyone agrees with you, thank goodness. The Studio Ox design that they are aiming for is not the same anime-accurate goal of MP9. That doesn't make it wrong. That doesn't make it unworthy of being made. It's a design that offers something that MP9 did not... detail :)  (and maybe some QC too).

Claiming it's an upscaled chug... is so tired. We hear it in every single 3P MP thread.

Totally agree. I hate movie/s3 rodimus, but really love the design of comics rodimus (he looks far more warrior-like)

I agree. I sold mine loooong ago with 0 regrets. I would rather go without a character on my shelf entirely than hold on to a figure I don't actually like. Good thing I love Dx9's offering, it'll be nice to have an awesome Rodimus :)

so...anytime i read the hate towards the figure on this thread...it makes me want to buy it more for some reason. i firmly believe that stylized designs also deserve the high end treatment too...and i think tht is what this is...and it will easily blend in with the official pieces IMO as mp-09 looks more out of place than this does next to mp-10 IMO. anyway, if this comes out and i have the funds to get it i will get it for sure. i never dug the oriigna roddy design so much anyway (too organic) and this addresses that issue with a studio ox influenced design

I agree, and I'm glad that there are toys that aren't strictly going for the 'Masterpiece' aesthetic. It's an aesthetic I love, and some of my favorite toys are in the MP line, but I don't want just MP style toys (although I can understand why some limit themselves to that).

I never followed the Hexatron thread closely, but were there as many complaints about Hex not being a "MP" style Sixshot? I just remember he was and is pretty widely loved despite being one of the most heavily stylized figures we've seen.

I think the difference here is that the company that made hexatron never chose to show him off by comparing him to mp figures. DX9 has done that twice now with figures that obviousely don't match the mp aesthetic (one is even out of scale in robot mode :D ), this would lead most to believe that that's how they want their figures to be displayed. So yes, some are going to be upset with DX9's offerings that weren't upset with hexatron.

I will say however, that both sides should try to keep it civil, both mp-09 and carrier have their positives and negatives.

Hexatron still had an almost incessant barrage of "too many ridges" going on from certain parties for what felt like years as well as the odd "it's NOT an MP!!" Outburst just to make sure we all knew where we stood ;)

I really like DX9s other figures thus far, and I know what "how dare you call it an MP!!!" Feels like when Invisible was coming out - He works for me but there are still plenty that can't stop telling me how wrong I am for that. So I'm conflicted on this.

If the quality is up to Invisible standards (top notch rock solid) then this will be an amazing figure and will embarrass the hell out of the fragile as fuck MP09 I have glued together at the back of my shelves, but I still haven't warmed to the design (I'm really not fussed about Studio Ox and why they seem to be a thing) and the Roddy I really want is MP Carbot sized, not this (almost) giant.

    So, no hate, just.......conflicted.

Well, it's all about personal choice. There really is no "wrong" with adding dx9 to an mp display. Astrotrain and Mirage look good in my book as part of an mp display. No more off than adding ft, badcube, or mp10 to an mp display... Every 3p has a style, but they all fit as well as anything in the history of transformers... Don't forget that the original toy line combined lines from Takara, bandai, toyco, and more... As a hodgepodge, adding 3p is just keeping it real.

Ah, I see. I guess I just see a cool toy as a cool toy regardless of what other toys the promotional photos have it posed with.

But I’m one of those weirdos who doesn’t segregate his toys by class or line. The most organization I have in any of my displays at the moment is my Lost Light crew, which is a mix of Masterpiece, 3rd Party, Shapeways, old Hasbro, new Hasbro, deluxe size, Legends size, etc… :D

My biggest decision for where to put Carry is whether or not he'll replace MP9 as my Lost Light Rodimus. Neither looks 'right' for a MTMTE Rodimus, but whatever.

Seems like Cloud Roddy would be the obvious choice for an IDW version, esp if scale and such was not important.

I can't wait to get Carry next to MP10U Nekkid Magnus. Sees like a perfect pair.
