Should I point out that the first days of the Mega-Man X Kickstarter got less money than Play With This Too. They seem to have done well.

    47% to the first goal!

Yes, but if you are holding back $500-$650 now, then that's $500-$650 that's not going towards unlocking the goals NOW. People taking a "wait and see" approach are the very reason why the goals may never get unlocked. sure there may be lots of cancelations at the end but that's the nature of how this project will have to work. We aren't just talking about one mold here. They are initially asking for $80k to produce 2 base molds. Then as the amounts increase over the $80K they will actually have the funds to make the other molds. Yes they could have made a kickstarter with all the molds for a $400K+ Goal but that would be a much harder sell for a start-up.

The point is, the more people that are holding back now, the worse it will be because the goals you want won't unlock because everyone is taking the same "wait and see" approach. If just 200 people who want the "PWIA" option take the same approach and don't put in anything or just do the $250 five figure option, then that's $130K - $180K that could be pledged right now and already unlocked 6-7 more figures, and being really close to unlocking 2 more.

sure it could all fall apart at the end but only if everyone stays on the fence and doesn't make their pledge.

I'm assuming that this guy will be one of the upcoming unlockable goals that'll go up at $100,000.

Still waiting for Terrortops to go up over here. :lol

It can be totally rigged though. Some asshole could go and pledge $1,000,000 just to see other items and then pull out a minute before it ends. I'm sure there's precautions to prevent that, though...

Seeing as that does not happen, I would say yes, there are safeguards. For instance, I believe there is a $10,000 pledge maximum in the US.

Kickstarter has protocols to handle things like that so it doesn't hurt the projects.

You're right, but at the same time everyone else would also see those other items and feel a lot more comfortable pledging. This "wait and see" is not going to work if nothing is unlocked. I'm in all the way and like I posted earlier I'm not saving on anything if things aren't unlocked all the way up to $255,000.

What is upsetting me the most are these "secret unlocks". We know there are a couple of bodies and headshots out there yet there not seen. How many are interested in the more human bodies? What if someone decided not to pledge and then doesn't bother keeping up with it? Then come day 17 they're not going to see that Goldminer and Ankhor 2 pack has been shown. People are just suppose the put down $55 for Bloodbath in hopes that the Astroblast tooling will be soon and unlocked?

The best way to describe how I'm feeling is that I'm at a party and someone just said they want to order pizza. I don't mind throwing to $20 if EVERYBODY is putting in because then more pizza is ordered and I get the most out of my money. But when you got some guys going "Oh I'll wait till it gets here to see if I'm hungry" then I'm paying $20 for two slices.

I know Rawbat and Impirator are supposed to be homages to Voltron's Scorpious and Senator Ratbat, but it's been pointed out that the two he-man characters who became Twobad also look a LOT like these two. Close enough that a set of head shots might be a great companion piece.

    Yup.

So I added up everything that's listed so far, including all of the unlocked goals that are there right now. If we get everything unlocked that is on the page as of this moment, those of us that have gone all in will be getting these items at $19.15 apiece.

I'm really excited for the stretch goals to get even further, I can only imagine what the savings will be then.

I don't think many are aware that you can revise or even cancel your pledge at a later date, unlocking stretch goals will attract more backers, more backers unlocks more stretch goals ect...

I see Kickstarter very much like a chemical reaction, it has an activation energy requirement (initial goal), then the reaction becomes self sustaining (stretch goals), then finally we have the product (product)

So even if others back out if we can get past a certain point it won't matter, and will continue without them

If you pledge early, there is more time for the reaction to take place, maximizing yield, so to speak

That's just how I see it anyway

I was super excited until I saw the International prices :(

Approx 95aud for a 6-inch figure + small (hardly transforming) sidekick, where both have low parts count (compared to 3rd party TFs at that price-range) and all parts are re-used for other figures (ie: not a unique mould to justify the price), I just can't get behind it. I suspect these will actually be cheaper for me to purchase once they hit retail (as I'll be able to better save on shipping costs).

The aspect that each stretch goal only unlocks another item you can purchase (when they've even said that once the kickstarter is funded they are going to be producing more types of figures for retail then what is in the kickstarter) doesn't really entice me.

I participated in the 4 Horsemen's Gothitropolis Raven's kickstarter in 2013, which had a similar pattern that PWTToo KS is showing. Like this KS, it was about 40% funded within the first few days (their goal was a bit lower than PWTToo, at only $65,000 as opposed to PWWToo's $80,000). The Gothitropolis then slowed down and took about a week or so before it was funded, with only a couple of thousand dollars pledged during the middle weeks. There were only two "big days" of the kickstarter, which was the second day (at $39K) and the last day (at $42k). In the end, they managed to get $303,666 of a $65,000 goal.

They have another kickstarter in progress, with about 10 days left to go. The current kickstarter has a much higher goal of $150,000. It took them about 3 weeks to achieve their goal. The 4 Horsemen are fairly well-known among toy groups, for having produced exceptional work for Spawn toys, Marvel toys, DC toys, and most prominently He-Man toy. But the circle they are known in is much smaller than Transformers fanbase. Nonetheless, they have had great success with the kickstarters.

Another successful toy kickstarter was the Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S., which showed the familiar pattern that the Gothitropolis Ravens and so far PWTToo is showing. Their model is a bit skewed because their final day had over $100,000 pledged, in the end getting $412,270 of a $75,000 goal. Taking away that last day, and their trend is very close to the Gothitropolis and what I'm expecting of PWTToo.

I fully expect PWTToo to enjoy similar success. I don't think it will get funded until around March 13th, and I think it'll end at about $300,000, give or take $25,000. This is all just fan analysis, so don't take My word as any sort of guarantee, but it's worth taking a look at.

1.) these are not Transformers, so everyone needs stop comparing them to 3P TFs. It would be more accurate to compare them to the Matty Collector figures which I hear with shipping costs almost $40. I am not familiar with Intl shipping for those, but it doesn't matter, in this case these are very limited run figures as opposed to MC figures and therefore are going to cost more.

2.) You are assuming are that these are going to even make it to retail. Yes that is their plan once funded, but look at the costs of the rewards they have set up for the retailers. $450 for 10 figures. Add the mark up the retailers will add and then your intl shipping costs. Plus if enough people don't pledge and this only makes it to the funded goal, there will only be 3 figures (2 molds) to chose from IF they go to retail. And seeing as how no one has yet jumped on the "retailer" tiers yet, that's a pretty big "if".

I almost participated in the Ravens Kickstarter and I wish I had. Now it's next to impossible to get them, when the duck (I think) was supposed to be the only Kickstarter exclusive figure. There were VERY few remaining in the store and sold out almost instantly. The only one I managed to grab was the American Eagle one (which, all said, was the one I wanted the most). Alas, I missed out on the Cardinal, Rooster, and Owl because I thought "Hey, I'll just slowly get them after the Kickstarter"...

Right. If there's something you want, GET IT NOW while you can...

Yup, I missed out on the kick starter for the Ravens and didn't even find out about them until one of the reviewers I watch put them up in a review. I'd love to have them all now, but sadly they're priced WAY more than what I'd be willing to pay for them, which is the main reason I went in all the way now.

Better to get what I want now instead of paying outrageous prices on the secondary market later on.

You guys are really ballsy. I didn't realize that the PWTT mascot character was a design based on an old Mattel figure - I don't know how you're getting away with it, but i'm glad to support you. I've increased my pledge to $195.

Now, a technical question - there was no option to allow for "shipping" payment. That full amount should technically cover 3 figures shipped overseas correct?

    Oh, I almost pledged.

I could have gotten the Duck, Cardinal, Owl, Rooster, and American Eagle for about $175 shipped. Now it's hard to get ONE of them for less than $125...

The "on topic" part of this is still to tell people "PLEDGE NOW! DON'T WAIT!"
