Sorry, didn't follow the thread in details, didn't realize that people are looking for answers on the feet, but Arctorro has correctly shown that it will look derpy, so I guess it is not a good method to adjust the feet that way but I don't find the feet looking bad in hand, but may be just me.

I was thinking---would toon-accurate colors look odd? As in, totally toon-accurate? Because that would mean the loco is like 99% purple. Really bland. (and frankly, odd, even among oddly-colored TF vehicles).

I'm thinking that a "toon-colored" one would be much improved by having black loco wheels, at least. And keeping the underside of the shuttle wings black. (which'd make most of the loco black below the running boards, which'd both look good and be much more like most of the brightly-colored steam locos that existed)

Shuttle mode would be basically unaffected by this change, nor would robot mode. But just a bit more black I think could be the "ultimate hybrid/compromise" between G1 toy, G1 toon, and simple "looking good".

 

So there's no parts forming on this guy correct?

Yup. Black wheels, and make the shuttle's wings purple on top(like the G1 toy) but black on the bottom. This would make most of the loco below the running boards, black. (black smoke deflectors and sand dome, too, based on the toy)

I'll try 'shopping it myself tonight or tomorrow.

 

Got mine today. If anybody is wondering what those two little black parts that come in the baggie with his visor are for, they cover the screws on top of train mode.

Only gripe so far is that the bars that connect the train wheels don't lock in shuttle mode and just flop around.

 

Mine will be here Saturday or Friday if I'm lucky. I can't wait!

Nice work but this is proof that toy designers have much better skills than the cartoonists. Toy colors are superior. Nice though.

 

Yeah I like the purple colors on the bot more, but for alt modes I prefer the toy color.

 

The train colour will be mainly unaffected even if the shuttle and robot mode is switched to toon colours mode, the small portion of cream / white parts shown on the loco mode will become grey, that's more or less it.
