Here's a photo from the gallery. Right in the middle of the drivers side door, in between where it splits for transformation, there are two rectangular divots. Can't find them on real world reference and they don't appear on the same place on the passenger side. http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-images/toys/images/271385-1/Masterpiece+Bumblebee+05.jpg
Mine arrived yesterday. This is one that is much better in person than in the photos - really quite perfect! I'm still not quite sure they got the face totally right but it's close enough for me. Mine has flawless paint work. And I love the sense of scale Bumblebee brings to rest of them. The Spike figure is a bit 'meh' for me - cool in concept but they toy is just a bit pants. Though I do love the proper 80s coloured paint on it.
Pretty much my thoughts as well. I was very surprised with how much I like him in person as opposed to seeing him in photos. Still wish they could have shrunk the feet a little more, but everything else is great. Spike/Daniel is staying in the box for me, wish TT would just come up with a mini bot price point and start selling them alongside the medium and large scale releases.
My Bee arrived yesterday - was waiting on the kitchen counter when I got home from work. Overall, I'm really happy. In robot mode, it's just a perfect cartoon representation of Bumblebee. The scale is a little disappointing though. Given how much of the length of the alt mode is lost in height due to Bee's feet and because a good third folds down; I felt making him in a scale closer to the likes of Sideswipe would have been ok, and it still would have been a head and a half smaller. But in robot mode, the scale works pretty well "as is", since he's pretty teeny compared to the other bots. I'm not too taken with the Spike exosuit. The ball joints don't hold very well on the arms, and the lack of detail on the face is awful. I appreciate the figure being included, and it's nice to have a TF:movie feel to the set; but the quality isn't really all that great and I could have lived with out it and a slightly cheaper price point. But overall, I'm really happy with the MP-21. The paint quality of great, the overall design is pretty awesome and with a likeness so close to his cartoon counterpart; I can overlook the scale and eco-suit niggles. For some reason, I have this sudden urge to watch the animated movie...
Just got mine today and he's a pretty cool figure, Looks great with the others. Kinda "meh" on the exo suit. Never really had an attachment to the character. I'm really bummed though because the Autobot logo on the hood came scratched! Is there anything I can do about it?! (See image)
Just see if you can scratch the rest of it off. Would look better in robot mode, and while less show accurate in vehicle mode, it wouldn't be a bad thing either.
If he did it himself, a store should definitely refuse an exchange. However, if it came like this out of the box, yeah, then a replacement would be warranted. Yup, not much can be done about it except carefully scratching it all off... It might look better without, or you could stick on a Reprolabels sticker. I've said it so many times before, but I'll say it again: Takara does not design TF Masterpieces to be (ab)used as toys. They are designed with attention for details, but not so much for structural integrity. Sure, they can transform: but even so, they are just not made for daily handling. And it's not a design flaw: there are loads of Japanese figures made by different companies which are all made for an adult market and are primarily meant for display, such as High Grade Gundams and Macross Valks, to name some more well-known lines. Although I love my Masterpieces, most have yet to be transformed more than 4 - 5 times, and some have been transformed no more than twice. All are on display, and all are still as good as flawless.
The key word is not scratching it off - but rubbing or buffing it off. Other option is to get a sticker/decal the exact same size and cover the old one with the new whole one.
I completely agree with you and that's why I collect MP, for display mostly. I got it from Amazon and the box is fine, just seems that it just didn't fully apply. Yep, I've got some cotton swabs I can use as well. I was hoping there would be an option for a dry transfer decal, like on Gundam models. It'd be as close to the factory as possible and I wouldn't have to deal with thick stickers that will peel over time.
I really hope that a KO gets made of this in white and then Reprolabels makes a set of Herbie stickers. I'd definitely buy that.
Behind the times a bit, but I got this duder today. He's perfect. Ordered him a Battlemask off ebay too. Yays!
I just got mine today. He is actually way better than I thought he'd be. I also really like the Exo-Suit he came with. They both have great transformations and look great! Does anyone want to sell their Exo-Suit? I think I want to get the Dr. Wu heads and I need a second.
I love this figure too. I started a review last year, and only just got round to rescuing it from Draft hell, and finishing it off. Still has my favourite transformation of all the MP's so far. Toybox Soapbox: Transformers MP-21 Masterpiece Bumblebee Review
Anybody having issues with the paint on this guy? A couple months back the Autobot symbol on mine just rubbed off (no oily fingers, not scratched at all, nothing) so I had to repaint it, and just today a fleck of paint came off of his face right below his eye, meaning I'm gonna have to mix up more darn paint to touch this guy up. Yellow paint is still fine, aside from the mismatched shades that most people experience. It makes me super sad, since he's my favorite Masterpiece so far, but I keep having issues with him.
