Wow, this looks excellent so far. And you're right, the scale looks to be just about perfect. While it may be much too late to be of any assistance, some of my favorite joints to use are the Mega Bloks version of Bioncle. They are actually just a tad smaller, making them easier to incorporate into most designs, and they have a rubber piece in the socket, meaning that they are tighter and can hold a lot more weight than a lego joint without just flopping down. They wouldn't hold a huge die-cast arm or anything, but I've got them as shoulder joints in a G1 Magnus trailer, for example, and they'll hold up the Magnus arm assembly while holding weapons fine.

Looking forward to seeing where this project goes.

EDIT: They're called Techbots apparently. At least some of them are. I've never actually looked to figure out what they were before.

Be my guest! If you need, I should still have the original schematics I drew for those; let me know and I'll see about digging them up for you.

Meantime, I'm trying to work out a solution to your shoulder tilt issue. I have an idea that I drew out on paper (used your pics and pics from Seibertron.com of MP-10 and G2 Megatron's shoulders for reference), but not sure what I'm devising would work. Whatever looks good on paper may or may not test the reality of the situation.

I'll keep working and let you know if I get any ideas.

    I appreciate it! :)

The more I study the shoulder, the more I'm leaning towards just scratch building a new assembly. The existing joint is so big that it doesn't leave any room to add an additional joint without compromising transformation.

EDIT: I forgot I was already considering this as an option:
I think after the head is done I'm going to finish building the part to connect the hand to the arm, then I'm going to go back to the legs.

Understandable: I don't have the parts in front of me, so you're probably seeing what I can't with the proportions, room you have to work with and compatibility issues. That said, let me share with you what I drew up last night based on what I could see of the parts for both:

(please forgive the crappy sketch quality)

I figured that perhaps you could remove half of the existing piece that connects to the shoulder, and then drill a hole for a pin to connect the remaining shoulder piece to the shoulder joint from MP-10. Then, use Plastic Welder to solidify the connection between the two and once it was cured, connect the arm to that joint.

Like I said: I cannot see the issues you can because the parts aren't in front of me. But if this helps at all, great!

Finished the head! Not to brag or anything, but I don't think I could be more pleased with how well it turned out (yes, the mouth is bad, but I can't really do anything about that).

Yeah, I can send you some measurements and better pics, but there really isn't much room to work. Also, the part connecting to the arm is on a sliding mechanism so I can't really take that out.

Hey, do you happen to have a closeup of the shoulder you did? That's exactly what I'm trying to do!

    Thanks!

I'm actually leaning toward keeping the G2 color scheme since Leader Megatron and Apollyon are coming out to help fill the G1 void. As for the mouth, I've been studying more pics and I think I'm going to try reshaping the mouth a bit to make it look a little better.

Saddly, my Megatron broke years ago and has been in storage ever since... dunno where is it at the moment :(

You should dissasemble the upper torso, just to check how the shoulder piece connect

Like i said, i kinda remember that i sanded either the green/purple connector or the hole where it connects on the body (most likely the case, since i did that with a soldering iron i think, didnt had a dremmel at the time)

Its hard to miss, once done, you get similar articulation to the smaller G2 Hero Megatron

I just figured out how I'm going to do the shoulders!

Unfortunately I will not be able to work on them until next weekend since I will be out of town, but as soon as I have an update I will post it!

Unfortunately I have not made anymore progress on this. I sort of lost interest after FansHobby teased a G2 Megatron, but since I don't think that's happening anymore (or any other that I know of), then I might get to finishing this at some point. I still have it and have wanted to complete it at some point, but I don't know when that will be. I'm trying to source another G2 Megatron for parts since I messed up this one, and I need to rebuild the waist and still figure out leg transformation.

Complete it regardless. Your work is too good not to finish it.

I mean what progress you made is pretty darn cool, its ultimately up to you if you want to continue, but I would be absolutely thrilled to see more.

Small update: I decided to keep plugging away at it after reading all the wonderful encouragement on here. I think I have the legs figured out. I need to make a hinge and slider for the blue part to rotate up 90 degrees and then lock in place. I shaved a bit more plastic off to get it to fit better. I’ll probably do the same to the other side soon just to make sure they both fit, but so far I like how it’s coming along. I do have another G2 Megatron on the way that I plan to use for the finished product. So if any of my cuts seem off or if I mess something up, I’ll have spare parts.
