And preordered one of each, gray and the purple chest. I'll probably drop the gray chest when it comes closer to release as I prefer the look of the purple more. Couldn't hurt to keep the preorder until then.

$75 seems to be a fair price. Same price as an MP car. Now should I go with purple or grey.... I really like the purple on the toys, but grey is accurate to the cartoon. Not sure...

Preordered the purple chest cause I am used to bombshell having purple I will admit BadCube did a good job but the legs killed it anf looked to bulky like Brawny but thats how Brawn in my opinion should look. The other insecticons I think BadCube did great.

 

I know everyone's excited about Omega, and I would be too, but I could live with him being a little way off yet. I'd much rather than tackle Skyfire first, and then maybe try something different... like Protectobots!

  yes this looks great... But come on, something that made the mp line so special was that we got a few high quality figures a year then they started pumping out a little faster, which was cool. Now, we're getting daily updates on new figures. It's ok I guess and I'll prob be getting them all but... Idk starting to feel like we're being overloaded here... Mixed feelings...

 

When is someone going to engineer this character with those spheres in his chest as balls in a ball & socket joint so there's no slot carved into it in alt mode when his arms fold down? That'd look really nice.

 

I honestly wish that they tackled the Constructicons if they decide on combiner territory. But, I often wish they would finish off the season 2 Decepticons by releasing Astrotrain and Blitzwing first (not including Bruticus, which I want too).

And now I return to FT with perceptor, reflector, and the insecticons. I was excited for bad cubes offering but now these are much more to my liking.

 

This is one time I'll be going for the toy look. I love toon decos, but it always bugged me Bombshell's chest turned grey in the show. Same thing with Bonecrusher's legs turning purple sometimes when forming Devastator.

 

Okay, this one I can get behind. Badcube's offering just wasn't doing it for me. I need some Cons on my shelf, but I didn't love FT's Reflector, so this will be a good purchase. Now for the Sophie's Choice between grey or purple for the chest...

Imagine it though, a licensed MP range of the kind of characters TT would never make themselves; no crossover/redundancy when an official MP comes along later... Even those who 'don't do 3rd party' would have an excuse not to miss out on all these cool designs. Man, perfect solution all round.

Yep, agreed. Their Insecticon sales must have taken a bit hit with this reveal, and I do like the company and their products. They should cut their losses and carry on with minibots...

Same here. I don't see multiple 3rd party versions as a problem, quite the opposite; that 'not quite MP because of a designer's personal tendencies/3P house style' which spoils so many figures will gradually be eroded as they all realise that some other company can do better and we'll follow. Survival of the fittest baby!

I'm toon primarily, but in this case (unlike the neat Badcube design) each colour is accurate for a different mode!   So if these are a good price I will be very tempted to double dip, partly for army building clones and partly to get accuracy in both modes!

It's very interesting you say this. I've always wondered if FT, assuming they're very successful and still here 5 years from now, will go back and work on some figures Takara has already done, I don't mean universally loved figures like the Datsuns, frumble, laserbeak or Soundwave, I mean figures the were generally well received but not gushed over...something like MP-22 for instance.

I adore this figure but I can see why some people are disgruntled over it, to me, it isn't the ultimate version of Magnus I had dreamed about and nerded on my computer in anticipation all my life, but it's the best one to date by a country mile and absolutely shits on all it's competitors, I'm looking at you, Shit-is-in-Stacks.

I wonder if FT will ever redo such figures, it will be interesting to see their take on them because so far we haven't seen FT and Takara do the same characters, it will be very interesting!
