Well at least it looks like we are finally going to get a story. It's a shame it took two whole issues to reach this point that should have happened at the start of issue #2. Of course I wouldn't be surprised if the remaining 80% of the issue devolves into a protracted fight scene given McCarthy's proclivity for those. Edit: That said, I really do like where this bit is heading.
I'm still wondering why this mini needed to exist but I did like Hellbat's tirade. It makes sense that after the war there would be people struggling with peacetime. This is just another example of that. And while he raises some really interesting points about Cybertronians, I find it odd that he would compare their race to the standards set by organic races. Aren't you a Decepticon? Pretty sure most of you viewed organics as squishy unimportant things. True, they don't reproduce, but... so what? And depending on your definition of create I'm damn well sure the Cybertronians made some amazing advancements in technology.
He's been around long enough to see that Cybertronians aren't the norm. Magnus said in MTMTE it's hard to reconcile the implications of being a mechanical being in a predominantly organic universe. Interesting. His rant has made me interested in this book.
My username is Shatterpoint. I use to think Shane McCarthy was a terrible writer. I still do. And I think it's only getting worse from here.
Yeah, I'm not going to lie, that writing can be a bit blunt. I'm one of the people who actually liked McCarthy's All Hail Megatron but the narration here is really repetitive.
Oh yes, that repetitiveness. "My name is Drift. I know that's the name of the series, and I reiterate that point every issue, but I just wanted to make sure you guys knew that... Did I mention I used to be a Decepticon AND an Autobot?"
wow, very interesting it raises some very important and interesting ideas about transformers life and how they view that life. this looks to be a very good issue. can wait to see how ratchet and drift counter hellbats views also, while the mouth gives more depth to the character, hellbat looked cooler without one.
oh christ i was right...god dammit....the shitty writing from windblade is indeed contagious..THIRD ISSUE IN AND WE'RE STILL DOING THE "MY NAME IS DRIFT AND I USED TO BE A DECEPTICON AND BLAH BLAH BLAH" YOUR NAME IS ON THE COVER WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE STOP THE SHITTY NARRATIONS. IT SUCKED IN WINDBLADE AND IT SUCKS NOW. god...sorry rant fuckin over....
Yeah, I fixed it. I tend to forget that McCarthy exists and my brain defaults to the only other Shane worth mentioning.
Hellbat's rant better lead to something good and not lackluster. That entire conversation actually sparked some of my interest, but I'm hesitant. And, my god, that repitition is irritating.
