"Sex, drugs and rock n' roll" = Corny as hell. Music should be about literally anything; nuclear zombies, nature, social causes, cats, the end of the world, bad bitches, shaking it, pizza, waking up in a new Bugatti, blood falling from the sky... the list is endless.

Too clarify, Blue aliens or master of all four elements? I agree with one of these things and it involves James Cameron.

Yep, I prefer music about social issues anyways lol.
Blue people movie with a morale shoved in your face or crappy choreographic children war movie?

    Either way they both sucked.

Some of his writing is genius, other stuff is just really weird. And he's not exactly the most politically correct person.

    Agreed.

Frankly, I enjoy songs that are about more creative topics than sex, drugs, and rock n roll. Not because I'm on a high horse, but because I'm just plain sick of hearing songs about those 3 topics. It's like the same message churned out over and over and over again and I just have to wonder how the artist doesn't get sick of writing about it.

Marilyn Manson's new album (The Pale Emperor) sounds pretty good and the new style is working for him. Eat Me Drink Me is probably the worst album he's ever released...

Amen to that. Music can be about anything and everything. And if anyone is interested, KMFDM is perfect for social issues and the like. Specifically the album "WWIII".

I think a lot of songwriters forget that music is technically poetry, and it can actually be about something.

Partial agreement from me. I hate music about social causes, particularly from any of the "capitalism sucks, buy our album" bands, but I hardly think the subject of songs should be restricted to just sex/drugs/rock. There are a lot more interesting subjects that can be covered in music and some of my favorite artists (Bruce Dickinson, Nightwish, The Tea Party) have songs with more unusual subjects and lyrics.

Is it better than Born Villian? I thought that was worse than Eat Me, Drink Me.

The Lord of the Rings movies and especially the Hobbit movies are an utter disgrace to the books and shove aside their magic and heart for mindless violence, putrid visuals and vulgar humor. I'd call it a million times more of a slap in the face to the books than the Bay movies are to G1, any day.

I'm not a big Avatar fan either. It had some good effects though.

I've tried several times to get into them and I don't mind a few songs but I have never been able to appreciate Nine Inch Nails. I find their production clunky and their songs un-melodic.
