True, but I never saw it in Wheeljack. Many others, sure but I can't recall anything more than one or two scene, in the whole show, that actually gave Wheeljack a personality.

and i am sure wheeljack isn't building insane devices and then them falling into the hands of the decepticons, in the IDW stuff either.

Every single one except prime, wheeljack is one of my all time favorite tf characters, but if I had to narrow it down....... tie between armada and g1

 

Hmm.... well if G1 fans keeps complaining about IDW Wheeljack not blowing stuff up then the authors writing the combiner wars could always have wheeljack complete a combiner that potentially blows up a bunch of your favorite characters in its mushroom cloud... Seriously, don't you guys ever worry about annoying the authors with complaints to the point they would do that?

 

That's not personality, that's role. His enthusiasm for developing new gadgets and his confidence in his own abilities (sometimes unwarranted) and in the capability of engineering to solve the Autobot's problems, however, would be part of his personality.

Aren't almost all the Autobots confident? I don't consider being exactly like everyone else having a personality. Most people say he's overconfident, but that rarely came across. Nobody ever called it out for it, and almost all his inventions worked. I can only think of two that didn't.

 

G1 Definitely, Wheeljack is my favourite character in the G1 cartoon

 

TFP for me. I enjoyed the character, his dynamic with Prime, Bulkhead, Magnus. He was a rough around the edges prickly good guy who got stuff done and we haven't had too many of those in the various TF series.


G1 Wheeljack I always found to be quite dull. I can't even remember anything of note he did in the comics.

at least in g1, when he did that, it made it seem like the real experiment was to see how the decepticons would use it, so he could create a counter device. and come off as the hero at the end.

I do like IDW Wheeljack though I didn't like how he was written out for a while but I'm glad he's back now.
