Honestly, I'm loving these new Decepticons! They're all so unique and inventive. And my hunties Jazz and Drift are coming and it's only the first season. I'm so hyped.

I think Bee just upgraded himself, but Optimus... I'm really not sure. He looks nothing like he did when he did a swan dive into Cybertron, and neither does his statue. Am I the only one bothered by this???

Masami Obari mostly works on Gundam these days. I would not be against seeing him on Transformers again.

Closest there is are the Ziguru Haseru commercial spots he worked on with Polygon Pictures.

The franchise already has done things that most people who aren't big fans of Transformers since day 1 would find undignified and I'm not talking about aesthetic here I'm talking things like space farts in BW,the crazy things that G1 did in the it's first two seasons and so forth so I doubt it's going to make people think the franchise has any of the dignity you talk about even if they went with the type of design you want to see.

Also why do you assume that styles like Animated,Prime and RID15 are toddler friendly? There's a difference between something that's cartoony and stylized and doing designs for infants. The way Animated,Prime and RID15 are designed is to exaggerate certain features on their looks to bring out more of their character into the design which isn't that much different from how series like the DCAU,Disney,Looney Tunes and others have done. If they're not your thing fine fair enough but just because you don't like how something looks doesn't really mean they're done bad. Sometimes it's just subjective.

I never understood this dislikement so many fans have towards the modern stylized looks for these series. It just looks a lot more dynamic looking in general.

Well I am, and that's what this conversation is about. I haven't the slightest idea of what you are referring to in the rest of that paragraph, but it doesn't matter because anything else outside of aesthetic stylization is irrelevant.

To answer your question from the other part of your post, look at the style of playskool and Little Tikes. The way these transformers are now being designed to look has the exact same aesthetic and those are brands are both general intended for ages 9 months to 3 years old. And when the new transformers like Robot Heroes and RID etc are starting to look exactly like this, it's pretty obvious to anyone that sees it that it is in fact "toddler friendly". And as such I will continue to refer to them as Babyformers because that's what they are being intended for. There is no respectable or appeal to audiences of 7+ years of age because the entire look talks down to the human intelligence for characters that have their roots in a civil war, filled with action, where they kick a lot of ass. There are proud leaders, there are pacifists, there are soldiers empathetic to the other side, there are narcissists and egotists, there are all kinds of interesting respectable Characters and to make them look like that of a comedy Disney or Warner brothers cartoon completely takes away the prestige the brand once had to be so popular for so long. Simply put, Babyformers are selling away the brands dignity. And yet, I've read on the boards that some people's kids don't seem to like it any way so we shall see if it even has any success with the age group it's most appropriate for.

It's certainly not something you'd get a quick glance of and be inclined to make fun of how kiddie it looks.

    BAM!
    THREAD WINNER!
Totally agree with everything in this post. Hasbro is trying yet again to do with Transformers as it did during the G1 era...Simplify the look this time instead of gimmicking up the line as they did with all the master gimmicks...Right now the playskool bots and the one step changers are choking all the shelves in the Target near me...TF4 stuff sold out when they stocked it @ the deluxe level...all the rest just shelf warmed. RID is going to be another stupified theme like armada and energon were cartoon wise and maybe . Just maybe the toys will sell @ a decent pace.

Lol the idea that simplistic aesthetic must be tied to simplistic storytelling or by necessity aimed at toddlers.

It's kinda strange. Speculative explanations include:

    * It's one of his Cybertronian bodies he had before taking on an Earth form

    * We're going by Aligned universe/Rescue Bots rules (or maybe early years IDW comics) in that the character 'always looked that way' when appearing under a particular series or title. (more likely :)  )

Probably, considering that since RiD's on another TV station they're trying to minimize the continuity for those people who end up watching RiD that hadn't watched Prime.
