They just got a first rd. win (again, no major accomplishment) in one of the most controversial wins we've seen in a while. No, they aren't that good. And you stated your position without making any attempt to provide examples or statistics that would back it up. :rolleyes2  If you have an argument to make, then make it. And we can have an actual debate.

^on the money. Dallas needs to be at the top of their game to stand a chance. Unfortunately, they've played their best on the road.

I overestimated the NFL's competence, and made it out to be a decent rule and a bad call, but I was apparently mistaken.

I think it's still in effect, they called it a couple times last year.

Why should Dez have been penalized? There is no rule about coming onto the field during a dead ball. The helmet rule doesn't apply to him since he was not a part of the play and did not remove his helmet. People are making up rules so they can ehine about the Cowboys winning. There was holding on the play that was missed. There is holding missed on almost every play...why aren't we whining about those? Maybe the holds of Witten, and Dez?

There was also offensive PI as Pettigrew extended his arm to have separation. Then a facemask. The MINIMAL contact by Hitchens was because he swiped the hand away from his facemask.

The bitching over this play is insane, and people should feel stupid and ashamed. The Cowboys were hosed on an offensive PI call in the first half. What did they do? They hit a 76 yard touchdown in response. Detroit wasn't screwed, still had the ball and could have gone for a first down. They had the lead, and there was still over 8 minutes left in the game. That play is not why they lost. The bitching is embarassing.

GB got crushed by Detroit too (their first game)...I guess they aren't very good. And the win isn't contreversial. People are just stupid.

We have a qb that has two back surgerys and currently fractured back, undefeated on the road, beat the super bowl Champs in their town. We beat the previous nfc east champ for the division,we beatt the saints who was a playoff team, we stomp the Colts who is currently a playoff team, we barely lose to cardinals with carson palmer barely with our backup qb, we win first round in the playoffs against a good lion defense. We have a less statistically gifted defense as well from the prior year. All those combined your stating we are not a good team. Define what a good team is? Other than you trying to bring up the past about dallas what facts do you have that Dallas or green bay is not a good team other than the two franchises probably have more super bowls than your team has playoff wins in the history of the nfl?

How is it contraversial? We give them a 14 point lead and we win it in the end?

What's considered elite in your opinion? Give credit where credit is due in the playoffs every team is good(most of the time) if not they wouldn't be there. I think seattle, Detroit Dallas and green bay are all good teams if not they would have the records they have.

That is my rationale as well. But I can't remember them playing a perfect game this year. Not in a big game anyway. They let the Eagles back into the 2nd game but still won. Even in the Seattle game, they had two huge blunders on special teams that allowed Seattle to stay in it. And they played like crap for at least half of Lions game. I just don't think they have it in 'em. I will have to see it to believe it. :lol

My understanding is that rule is gone.

That wasn't a huge game. It was early in the season and nothing was on the line. They beat 'em when it counted. The importance of these games magnifies as the season goes on.

My understanding is that rule is gone.

    Easy there fanboy.

    1. All players have had injuries of some sort, and guess what? They have surgeries for those injuries. Romo isn't doing anything different than the rest of them.

    2. The Saints are NOT a playoff team. They WERE a playoff team. Many teams beat them this year, hence why they are not in the playoffs. Again, not a special feat for the Cowboys.

    3. Your consistent talking up of the fact that the Cowboys have beat playoff teams back in the regular season is baffling. Just because they have beat teams in the regular season that are now in the playoffs does not mean that the Cowboys can beat them all again.

I don't hate Dallas, but I do have a problem with bad officiating and poor analysis of teams, both of which have occurred in the past 24 hours.

Being a Giants fan, I am obviously an asshole towards the Cowboys. But at the end of the day, I want to think I am even handed.

So, first the asshole thing. I don't get why the Cowboy fan is trying to defend Jerry Jones buying them that game. It happened. There is proof. He has been partying up these refs since before the season started. The party sex bus has it's place, and it's place is with the head of refs. Now why a Cowboy fan wouldn't just say, "thanks Jerry, and for all the haters, feel bad your owners are too poor to buy refs. At least that way you win playoff games."

Cowboy fans just embrace the buying of that game.

Now for the fair handed part. The. Cowboys have surprised me all year. They weren't supposed to win more then 8, then they weren't supposed to win the division, then they weren't supposed to win in the Playoffs. Then they beat Detroit.

The Cowboys were 8-0 on the road this year. They have a monster offense. Their defense is okay.

The Packers were 8-0 at home this year. The GB Packers offense is great. Their defense is okay.

So I see a shoot out. Defense will not judge this game.

Now, Dallas can obviously run the ball. That is the key to the game. Having more plays can win them the game.

To think Dallas has no shot to win this game is outright silly. Dallas has an extremely good chance of winning this game. So much so, I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

Now don't get me wrong, I am rooting for GB, but I am betting on Dallas.

I will respond to your points, one at a time. Whether you agree with me or not is up to you, but I appreciate you at least stating your rationale.

    • They did beat the previous NFC East champs, but the Eagles were only 9-7 last year. And they couldn't even get in as a wildcard this year. The Redskins also beat the Eagles. :lol
    • Barely losing to the Cardinals: no consolation prizes. A loss is a loss. And their backup QB was only in there because they couldn't handle blitzes. Still can't, based on what went on in the 1st half of the Lions game.

    • My understanding is that the Colts did not have a whole lot to play for in that game. They were trying to keep everybody healthy.

    • I can't even remember them playing the Saints. I think I was busy or something. :lol

It's controversial because so many people did not agree with what went on. And everyone is talking about it. :lol  I agreed with the call on the field when the Music City Miracle took place. Nevertheless, it was controversial. Just because I agreed with the call doesn't mean everyone else did, too.

That's a tough question. A lot of things go into it. Previous history, for example. I thought the Bengals might finally take down Pittsuburgh (after they looked good v. Denver), but they kept making mistakes. In general, we see certain franchises who have to be beaten in big games, and others who usually seem to beat themselves. Dallas had a good season and so did Detroit. But Detroit was the "B" team, not even the winner of its own division. And Dallas played terrible in that first half. I still can't believe that guy bounced off the QB and missed the tackle.

It's great for a franchise to have a storied "history," but the current group of players doesn't benefit a whole lot from that. I'm sure the Steelers aren't all proud of their history right now, after getting beat down at home by a division rival. They are probably quite dejected. :lol  I don't see what that has to do with anything.

    Hey, money is money.

And last year I learned the hard way that my hatred for a team has nothing to do with the money I bet on a team. Fucking Seattle. I should have seen how much better they were then the pack.

Having said that, I am betting Seattle BIG against Dallas if that happens.

Eagles are a 10-6 team back to back seasons actually.

When you keep mentioning teams are not good because they don't play complete game...it's the NFL any team can win at anytime. Not often do we see a game like Seattle beating down Denver.

So define what or who you consider good? I understand you don't like Dallas but who would you consider to be a good team then?

Contraversial...the game could of went either way with the calls. Every game in the NFL is like that. What matters is that even with adversity the better team won that day.

Not saying I guarantee a win against the Packers or anything but to say both teams are not good is ridiculous on your part.

But thanks for your explanation...but still didn't answer what you consider a good team

Is that like a Horse head in the bed?

Or is that like, I am not getting a call until the situation is handled and I won't take part. If the situation is not handled then I get the horse head?

That is true, but it seems to be "less true" in the playoffs.

If you read back in this thread (about a million pages), I predicted Dallas would beat Seattle pretty handily. Some probably balked, but my stated rationale was far from genius: Seattle wasn't scoring. :lol  I don't consider Romo a "choker" and I'm rooting for them to go all the way (although I think Whitten is a little overrated).

A good team is balanced. It can run, pass, play defense, and play special teams. Dallas can do the first two, but the latter two are sometimes suspect.

I agree with that assessment. But they didn't look like the better team for most of the game. And what adversity are you referring to? Getting pile drived in the first half by your opponent is not adversity. :lol

I think Dallas will have a much better chance if conditions are poor. They can be physical and run the ball a lot. I don't think their defense stops Rodgers and company. It just isn't that good. But they might get an assist from the weather.

I actually don't think anything is stopping Rogers. Except if he is not on the field.

I think that game is literally going to be the last minute drive to win it.

    A 37-34 score.

Hence why I am betting the Cowboys. Shit they are getting 6.5 points.

10-6 actually. Last year the Cardinal too were 10-6 and couldn't get in. Just be happy Bradley Fletcher was a Eagle this season, or the Cowboys wouldn't even be in the playoffs at all.
