I predict within two years Dlx figures' size will shrink to Scout Class, transformation level will reduce to Cyberverse, and price will jump to what you could buy a Voyager class few years ago.

None of this stuff is a necessity, so if prices get past the point of what I'm comfortable with then I will cut back or stop.

I think all of us collect this stuff because we enjoy it, but as we get older life is going to change. Marriage, kids, circumstances; there comes a time when buying toys is not what it's important and that money will go to something else.

For now, I've already cut back in favor of putting more money towards savings and my kids. I still collect because I can, but like I said, things will change eventually.

It is getting ridiculous those new Legends don't even have the target master but they kept the price.

It's getting to the point where I don't want to waste too much on toys for my son, I know he won't play with things he asks for, he hardly does with the ones he does now.

I really haven't been super excited about anything in along time like I used to be either, thinking of selling things off for some new things I want or just to have cash in the bank.

I've already pretty much given up on the mainline stuff. So far, the Combiner Wars toys don't really impress me so I'm more than content to focus solely on MP. I'd rather have a figure that is small with fewer compromises than a figure that has barely any paint on it and has been overly simplified. Space is finite so I would prefer to fill it with figures I actually like.

Asian dealers like Nippon Yasan, Anime Export, and Hobby Link Japan. There are others, but I think those are the most popular. I think mine was under $130 before shipping, but the Yen got weaker and by the end of the year some posters were reportedly getting him for $110. Pretty crazy when BBTS listed him at $300 when the leaks came out over a year ago!

My prediction in 5 years? Transformers will be worth zero (temporarily) or a deluxe will be worth 20000 dollars (not a typo), but bacon will be 100K.

Am I crazy? Nope, think Zimbabwe hyperinflation. Coming to the USA within the next 5 years. As I said, people will think I am crazy and I think it's reasonable.

Someone remember to bump this in January 2017. Some should be good for a smirk I think.

between lena81822 seller on ebay I have been able to get the bulk of my TF fix for cheaper than retail.... and Amazon's crazy plastic crack crackhead priced sales ....I was able to get a few extras for customizing for purposes (voyager roadbuster and deluxe Tankor)...

and thanks to ebay i Got the cloud shockwave for $45 shipped and Takara Roadbuster and Takara Tankor for $15.50 shipped and $10.50 shipped....

The last two years retail sales online and some stores has demonstrated to me that unless it it something that i feel like i need yesterday....I'll pay retail ....Otherwise i will wait until the next holiday shopping fest....

I was able to get off Amazon most of the Transformers Go! deluxes for less than $15 each shipped to me....

And to agree with others on this thread....the quality is not keeping up enough to justify the price to me anyway IMO.

I have no problem paying more for a quality product (honeybaked ham anyone?) but if it is just a company increasing prices and not showing an increased quality then sorry but no they are not getting my retail business...

I'll shop online when sales occur or get stuff @ great discounted prices during the holiday shopping season.

This pretty much sums it up for my situation. I've been selling a lot of my collection off and plan to continue. I just don't feel as possessive of this hobby as I used to. That burning anxiety to get a new Transformer has burned itself out, helped heavily by steadily increasing prices. Having kids and putting the family's needs before my own also makes it more essential to cut back.

I understand about priorities. I've a wife, two kids, a mortgage, and a mountain of other bills and expenses that go along with it. TFs are my only vice now, though. I even cut out most comics and guitar purchases, as much as I love those two things, but I have so little time to read and play guitar anyway. $500 a year on MP purchases is pretty affordable. I write 'em all off anyway! :)

I like to think so, but that depends on the health of the MP line. I haven't bought a mainline figure, for myself, since '07. So, if the MP line's still kicking ass and taking names in two years, I'll still be collecting 'em, regardless of price.

    Have fun, gang!

I recently lost my job due to some severe health issues, and the only figures I'd purchased since I sold the larger part of my collection for rent and food money in 2011 were Generations Springer and Thundercracker. I asked for MMC Terminus Hexatron as a gift for Christmas because it was the toy I've dreamed of since I got the original at a comic book shop on my tenth birthday, and I promised myself as a kid that even if I stopped collecting, I'd get an updated Sixshot if one was ever made.

I'm thinking that Hexatron may be the last figure I get for a very long time due to the rising cost of the figures I actually want. I don't have a car or a home of my own anymore, I can't spend $550 on MMC Feral Rex despite how much I'd really love to. Hell, I can't even afford a $3.50 for a beer today.

I just get pickier and pickier.
If you see something you like, and want it enough, you suck it up and get it.

yeah i can relate to that one....I have been out of work since 2012 due to chronic Migraines and neck /shoulder muscle issues...

I filed with SS disability in 2011 when it was going the path of me being put on Medical leave without pay.....

Had to sell about 400 or so of my transformers to cover life's expenses while i fought with the SS administration ....Finally got approved in June 2014 and started to slowly re-acquire those TF's....The majority are just gone and not getting replaced....Classics and Universe ones are just too high on the after-market to buy @ inflated prices compared to what was paid retail years and years ago...

I will stick with the botcon boxset if it interests me ( the last three sets actually have been really good in my book)....and maybe the TFSS service if it has figures worth subscribing for....

I am done mainly with transformers in the near future though...FOC bruticus was the last combiner i bought and will get...Combiner Wars isn't my thing unless the reissue the combaticons via CW....I was never a huge fan of the combiners from G1 toywise anyway....

between trying to move to the east coast this upcoming summer/fall and other stuff going on in life....Transformers are really low on the $$$$ priority list right now....

Pretty much this for me since 2007. I'm mainly MP, and the occasional CHUG deluxe, wish I could buy some 3rd party, but finances are tight for the few figures that I am able to sneak in.
