Hey guys trying to decide between mp um and dai stack. My main concern is playability. Does the lack of articulation hinder it? I'm one of the few who plays with his robots and will let my 6-7 year old also play with it as well. I don't want to spend close to 200 for a brick. Thanks.

Stack doesnt fucntion in alt mode very well, Magnus appears to fully function at keast as good as his G1 toy did. As for bot mode, I guess Stack may have more movement, but ive heard the cab connector broke easy and it doesnt appear the posability of Magnus is too bad, he just doesn't have a full range.

I finally got my shipping notice from BBTS, so I'll be able to see for myself by mid next week.

If you want all around playability, I'd say MP-22. He actually holds 4 cars.

Yeah, I definitely need that poster framed and hanging in my office. Can't believe I don't! I love everything about it - it gives me the feels every time I look at it. It wasn't until I saw it in a theater lobby that I knew a TF movie was coming out and I probably started jumping up and down like a spaz. Couldn't wait to find out if the giant red, white, and blue badass in the middle of the poster was a new improved Optimus or some new bruiser. I didn't end up getting an Ultra Magnus toy until '87 and was dumbfounded when it turned out it was a white Optimus you plug into the back of the trailer. I didn't understand it, but I was glad to finally have an Optimus! I might've played with that Optimus as much or more than Ultra Magnus. It was cool, but THIS is the figure I've wanted since that day in the theater in '86!

I didn't even know there was a Transformers movie until like ten years ago, my brother bought the DVD. I remember watching it and just thinking 'why the hell is everyone dying!'. Think I'd just bought a MISB G1 Prowl (which I opened of course) only to see him die about 5 minutes in! Magnus was pretty iconic in that movie though.

When I showed my brother the magazine shots of MP Magnus a few months ago he was like 'he looks perfect, big and bulky just like the soldier he is'.

The video in my sig only makes the wait harder!

Thanks for the feedback, well at least I know it's shipping out. I did contact them about it but due to the holidays will have to wait till Monday for a reply, hopefully.

My AE order has been sitting in packing now since Friday - kinda wondering why mine is taking so long when others have had it happen much faster.

No contest, MP Ultra Magnus. I have both, and I'll be selling Stack - I regretted buying it pretty soon after getting it. It's not bad, but the legs look awkward, I don't like the transformation, and the plastic feels cheap (even though the plastic is actually of decent quality). It does have better articulation than MP-22, but not by much - the waist rotation is the main difference, and a bit more movement outwards at the shoulders. MP-22 looks much more imposing, has a much better face sculpt (I bought the SXS sculpt for Stack, but even so, MP-22's is better), has a fantastic and intuitive transformation (which, unlike Stack, doesn't involve some horrible folding in the middle), and a much better alt mode that matches MP-10. No doubt some people prefer Stack, but for me it's MP-22 all the way. Photos don't do him justice - he just feels fantastic in hand.

Dean and Bumble, I hope you get yours soon! I'm desperately trying to protect my UM (and BB) from my four year-old daughter's one-step Bumblebee, as she loves them, especially Ultra Magnus!

Got pissed of this EMS Retention Period status, decided to go pick up my beloved MP22 from my local post office. Upon open him from the box, jaw just dropped, the big guy is !@#$% magnificent! Love it, 1986 all over again, now he'll join with his other g1 brothers:

From the internet pic, I thought MP22 card looks bigger, so I decided to compare to MP20,21. Yup, MP22 card is slightly 1/16" or 1/8" bigger than the preMP22 card.

Wow, man, that's so crazy for me to wrap my head around! The Movie's impact on me can't be understated. It was like a religious experience. Not only did I walk out of the theater absolutely obsessed with TFs, but surely played some kind of role in shaping me as an artist, even as an adult. I still watch it for inspiration.

So you only had access to VHS TF tapes growing up?

Tracking says it's out for delivery, but it said that yesterday and it's nearly 4pm on a Saturday. I should learn not to get my hopes up!

Thanks for the reply. Yeah the folding in the middle when transforming stack was my biggest concern. The plastic used there looks thin.

Wasn't expecting mine until Monday but it showed up today and I absolutely love it. As others have said it's a fairly intuitive transformation process. From the moment I laid eyes on the prototype I figured I'd transform it once and then just keep it in bot mode for the rest of its days but it's turned out to be the opposite of that. Writing about it now has me thinking about transforming it again...

Now I just need my Skywarp to get here and I'll be good for a month or two before the drooling process begins again for the next releases.

    Holy sprue marks batman!

Does everyone have a tremendous amount of sprue marks on their as well? I have a lot more then on my arm?

Usually I use a lighter to get out the sprue marks, but I am not doing it on this guy. Can you guys explain the hair dryer method? How close should it be? Any tips would be appreciated.

Over all, the figure is better in hand then in pics. Not the best MP, but it is a pretty nice MP overall.

Yeah the cartoon was on tv at one point when I was very young but then they stopped showing it. That's what you get for being into TV shows through your big brothers' tapes - they aren't shown on tv anymore! Of course I still had all the toys, but then I moved onto just ordinary action figures (probably why the MP line appeals to me so much, the articulation and possibilites of posing. I remember when we used to play with figures I would get mad if my friend didn't put them standing in a cool pose!).

Always kept the TFs in a cupboard in my bedroom though. Wanted to get the DVDs when I found out they were available but they were expensive at the time. Fast forward a good few years now I've borrowed them from my brother, just need to get around to watching them all! I'm just worried the more I watch the more characters I'm gonna want to buy

Magnus was always gonna be a must-have though. Like others have said, if nothing else I can use him in vehicle mode to hide all those non-essential Diaclone-inspired car purchases I keep making ;)
