So I recently got a G1 Grimlock off ebay for $17, but only had photos of the Dinosaur mode, so I took a chance. The chrome is faded, though one claw still appears to be a copper gold, which is odd. I got it today and low and behold, it appears to be a Diaclone version. it has the blue crotch and the sharp teeth. However, something odd has me questioning if its just a really good vintage KO.

The box on the inner leg where i would expect to find Takara copyright info is blank, on both legs.

Anyone have any thoughts or info? I believe it may be this KO:

I went through this exact scenario about a year ago. It's the vintage KO. I got the same thing. Sorry...

 

Pretty sure that's a knock off. I don't think the real ones rust like that, but I know the KOs do.

 

Does anyone remember the Grimlock with a horn on his snout and a metallic tongue?

All I remember is that 1 kid in elementary school in the 1980's had one and I saw it once.

 

Yeah mine looks about that old. It's very very bizarre, wish I knew more about it.

 

It's a ko remould, and they did it to all the g1 dinobots, it was pretty common for ko manufacturers to make such changes, beyond furthering the likeness away from the originals the reasons why are unclear, and always have been
