What if that Prime was actually designed to be a combiner... but not in the way we think. What if they will later release a trailer that makes him into Power Master Optimus? He does, after all, have the stacks in the right place...

 

No, it's just a remold of Motormaster. They said he isn't supposed to combine with any particular team. The main point of it is to get the attention of kids who don't know who the Stunticons and Arialbots are.

I'll reserve judgment on these new figures after I have seen the reviews and the actual figures. Don't wanna get too excited then be let down, or too negative and miss on something great.

 

Yeah, because ROTF's toyline is universally considered absolutely horrible.

If Hasbro doesn't make a Powermaster trailer armor a third party will. The third party will also make a version of the trailer for Motormaster as well.

 

Hasbro won't. The Combiner Wars arguably utilizes repaints for the same sake that Energon did... costs. The various figures will serve at least one repaint or retool each. It wouldn't be cost effective to make a special armor for Prime... let alone that it would have less play value then the combiner limbs.

So expect a 3rd Party group to make the trailer.

The Masquerade was an old G1 Episode where "Optimus hatches a scheme to disguise Autobots using camouflage paint and penetrate the Decepticon camp disguised as Stunticons: Optimus Prime as Motormaster, Jazz as Dead End, Sideswipe as Breakdown, Mirage as Drag Strip, and Windcharger as Wildrider."

Odds are the Masquerade Autobots for the Combiner Wars won't be the same group... at the very least, Windcharger won't be masquerading as Wildrider... both because he's getting an upcoming Legends figure, as well as Off Road replacing that one Stunticon...

While I can definitely see that reasoning for putting CW Prime out first... darn sure that the Autobots in Masquerade-form will be joining Prime. G1 fans will eat that up. If not in the mainline... then via FunPub or the ComicCon exclusives.

They didn't show Prime's Ultra Prime torso mode there.

 

The combiner looks great, so does Powerglide. Bombshell looks okay for the most part its just the hands that look stupid. That Optimus is crap, Windcharger is MEH, so is that Thundercracker.

my god silverbolt looks worse than the universe version. the paint apps are lacking, so are the moulded details. looks so.. diluted
optimus prime is simply just a lazy repaint of motormaster. hasbro has come to a point where they are not ashamed about rolling out crappy designs while expecting us to pay more esp after the aoe toyline

Neither is a remold of the other, they're co-development of one base toy that had the parts for both designed in from the beginning.

 

These are $20-30 figures. Manage your expectations accordingly.
