So i'm curious what's the difference between casted and 3d printed? I mean fundamentally i understand the difference, 3D printed is exactly that, printed but casted? How does casted differ from actually having tooling etc? Sorry of my noob questions but i'd like to understand.

Fakebusker: you know if you're good with this stuff and design why not hook up with a 3P to produce something "bigger and more intricate"?

3D printed stuff has a slightly rougher texture and exhibits 'layering' especially on large, curved surfaces. Also, what you receive from Shapeways is a unassembled kit which you have to paint and put together yourself. The material used is nylon powder so it feels very different from normal ABS plastic. Lighter and porous.

What Nonnef is doing is casting the parts out so the surfaces are much smoother and resin feels like Hasbro plastic. Plus we were able to split the model up and apply colour breaks so that he can cast pieces in different colours before putting them together. No painting or assembly needed!

I can't confirm or deny that abovementioned hooking up has taken place or will take place in the future.

Btw anyone of y'all saw the combiner wars story on the news section? It said pixs taken from a Sg event..any idea which or what event that was?

 

I didnt know there is such event. I did a google search, its vivocity level 2.

 

Anyway hot spot seems to be the nicest of all.. The rest are not that great.. Wonder if it's worth the discounted price.. Did any of you get 'em already??

 

I got both sets.

HotSpot and Blades are of better quality.

The other set has QC issues, especially with First Aid. The soft rubber used for the knees are too soft, resulting in floppy legs, and an ambulance mode with glaring gaps in the bonnet-to-windscreen joints. Ratchet never had such problems.

Streetsmart has the same issue as Prowl, the soft rubber used for the front bumper is a little off-shaped, making transformation to police car a little difficult.

 

FrenzyRumble Is A Scam Artist!

I am from Singapore & just wanted to share my experience with this customizer, Frenzyrumble (aka Michael Accardi). This guy promised the custom will be done within 6 months. After transferring the deposit to him, he went silent. When i asked him for update, he gave excuses like he was in an accident or he was moving. The whole thing dragged on for 1.5 years. Finally i gave him the drop dead date & as expected, nothing to show when the date came.
He agreed for a full refund but there's a catch, there is no specific date. I will be placed in the refund list & then, wait. Again. As i couldn't agree with this arrangement, i gave him 1 week period & he threatened me back with legal charges for the losses incurred. WTF?!

So please do not engage this guy for any customizing project. Google it & you will find other's experiences with this guy (i should have done that before engaging him, sigh). I have work with other customizers (Forgottenforest aka Michael Palmer, Grinkrystal, frogDNA & sabretooth aka Chris Hooton) & they all kept their end of the deal. This guy really gave me a sour experience.

Sorry but just want to share out my experience to prevent others from falling prey to this scam artist.

I feel you Bro, My commission is still outstanding, that was since 3rd quarter of 2012. I have paid more than half of the $2500USD fee. (back then i was deluded that i was rich hahah). Communications have also blacked out since this year. No reverts on my messages. He would still respond in the early months and with some photos to get a second deposit from me. But after that its the as what you have mentioned. Since then I have also seen him releasing painted commissions of products that werent even released at the time of our agreement.
