' 86 was by far the best.... 33 years old now and I still watch it once in a while and still get as excited when I hear the song "you've got the touch" by Stan Bush. Of the newer movies... I thought AoE had lots of excitement in the previews... and I got goosebumps when I saw the dinobots..... however other than that... what a flop!!!! We didn't even get a decent amount of time with the dinobots... but the Grimlock Vs. Optimus was pretty awesome...

I think. It was done to gain a "broader audience", as G movies tend to not do well in theaters. As I do not like star trek I do not know of the latter instance.

Yes though, BB peeing was embarrassing to see, along with wheelie's "affectionate monent " and the infamous devasballs. That kind of lame potty humor has no place among the multi verse of transformers.

While objectively the worst movie, I want to say RotF was the best. It's just packed with great scenes like Optimus and Jetfire combining, the forming of Devastator, the whole Demolisher scene, the forest battle, "Give me your face" etc. And The Fallen is easily my favorite villain of the series so far (the fact he was played by Tony Todd certainly helped). I'd give DotM a close second since I also absolutely loved Sentinel Prime.

Agreed. I enjoyed Megatron's character arc, as well as Predaking's, Knockout's and Bee's. In fact, I would venture to say that pretty much all of the major TFP cast went through some kind of character arc throughout the course of the show. I don't think that a single Movieverse robot has gone through a character arc yet, at least not one as deep as TFP's.

TFTM (TF07). Hands down. It brought what we were waiting for to the table. Will never forget that feeling. Everything else is easily secondary and predictable. AOE comes second though.

Every movie character has an arc. That arc is as such:

Introduce character > Show how cool said character is > Character dies

This lengthy, complex arc has managed to define every character in the movie franchise and is why everybody remembers Topspin so well.

The animated movie for me was far better than any of the live action, but if I have to choose one of them, I'd go with DOTM. 07 was pretty decent, the other 2 were just utter trash.

I will give you that one! The robots in TFP have better characterization than those in the films. I'm annoyed that the movies will not allow the Decepticons to have personalities and talk, outside of that annoying Cybertronian crap. What are they scared of?

    My bad. LOL

Can I vote the 1986 Transformers Cartoon movie as my favorite? But, if I were to pick Live Action it's the first one without a doubt. Dark of the Moon #3, ROTF #4, and AOE #5.

    ..

They split up because Bumblebee has to keep Mikaela and Leo safe. It isn't just a matter of keeping Sam safe, it's also the issue of keeping his girl safe, otherwise he might not be too keen on helping the Autobots out, which is what the first 30 or so minutes of the movie was setting up.

The middle of the battle? He just ripped off Grindor's face, and Megatron and Starscream where nowhere to be found. That is exactly the best time to look for the person you're trying to protect. It didn't work out for him, but if you've ever seen more than one movie in your life, you'd know they love to hammer in the point that caring for people leaves you vulnerable.

I'm starting to think these movies are too complex for general audiences.

You know what would have kept everybody safe? Staying together. You know, the opposite of splitting up. Especially since together, they're obviously able to kick the asses of all the decepticons, since they pretty much just did it.

There is zero sense in leaving either Prime or Bee alone to be ambushed after the factory fight. As I said, if the plot called for Prime being killed, it could have been done in an actually reasonable way.

As to "Megatron and Starscream where nowhere to be found" in the middle of the forest battle, seriously what movie are you watching? They're right there, since you know, he's fighting all three of them.

It's hilarious watching you contort around trying to defend idiocy. Too bad you have to rely on laughably flawed arguments, yourself, to do it.

Alright, which one of you nutters chose ROTF?

J.K. I'm actually guilty of enjoying it when I saw it.

I'm popping back in here with a brief appearance just to argue against this. That's absolutely how the best movies work. Setup and payoff or cause and effect is the most simple narrative mechanism and the most effective one there is. It's literally the direct basis of all jokes and narrative structure.

It's interesting that you used "therefore" instead of "so" (as I normally do), because that's the exact terminology Trey Parker and Matt Stone use when advocating that method of storytelling, as you can read/watch in an article/video here.

Michael Bay movies are sort of like Daniel Tosh's comedy; over the top to the point of absurdity payoffs/punchlines but with no setup to speak off.

In short, you're making broad, unfounded, uninformed statements about the whole of cinema 'cause Michael Bay movies are (in a generic, sophmoric way) "cool".

    AOE, DOTM, ROTF, 1986, 2007

I'm surprised 07 is winning considering how much time it wasted on the human side of the story.
