Though I liked AOE, I agree with this. I really wish they had just ended it with DOTM.

Honestly that was really just Hasbro coming off like they have a handle on things. Truth is no one knows what's gonna go down with the movie verse, what with Bay saying he's not coming back and rumors of it actually being 2017 instead of 2016.

Even though I did enjoy the Bay movies, I do agree with all of this.

Actually I think Devastator can still be salvaged, WITHOUT resurrecting him, yet...and all thanks to that little name f***-up in the first movie: basically, retcon the name "Devastator" as a catch-all title for any big brawling monster among the Decepticon ranks in any given situation. Hence, Brawl would have been the Earth Decepticons' resident Devastator back in 2007, and the Constructicon combiner they had back in 2009 would have been the current Devastator at that time. It's a really, really cheap, dumb and corny idea, I admit, but I've seen worse ideas in this franchise...two of which dangled from ROTF Devastator's crotch...

They could do the same with Wheeljack, too, since they couldn't make up their minds with his name, either...retcon the name as a nickname for any specialized mechanic on an Autobot team. Thus, Que would have been the Autobots' resident Wheeljack in 2011.

I still want a reboot as much as anyone, but I just plain don't see it happening. Best I can hope for is someone new to sift through the pieces of the train wreck and salvage the parts to build something new out of it.

There's probably close to 0% chance of TF5 coming in 2016.

No reboot. Get a new director and continue the universe but with no macguffins. Since they introduce the idea of the creators, just say all of the macguffins was their technology that were all misused and are now going after all the transformers.

if it was a 2016 date we would be getting some news right now, like new director or if they are scouting locations, pre production news, something.

for AOE which came 3 years after DOTM, we didnt got too many news for AOE in 2011 just few rumors but nothing solid, solid news came in 2012. so if TF5 is for 2017 we may not get solid news till next year

for ROTF and DOTM which came in 2 year span, we started getting solid news right after the previous film came, like actual release dates and such, if TF5 was 2016 we've be getting news right now

Oh that's a load of bull since without these films Transformers would have probably died years ago. In the UK all we had back in 2005/2006 was Alternators and that was it. The films got a new generation into Transformers. Damaged? I think not.

Well isn't that your fault? If the series needs to be rebooted then I have no problem with that but these aren't bad films and there are thousands or millions who love them so if you're embarrassed by them then maybe you need to see what your own issue is. I'm no embarrassed and so aren't others. It all goes to a point I made in a thread, are these bad movies or are they just not the films the fandom want.

I'm surprised no one has suggested sequel to the proper TF film. It would start with the head of Unicron drifting through space to proper rock music.

I personally wouldn't like to see a reboot. I mean, I'm sad to see Michael Bay go even. Yeah, he had some sloppy editing going on, but some of the best action scenes in recent memory.

In any case, there's plenty of characters from the TF mythos who haven't been showcased in the movies yet, and I'd love to future entries' take on Ultra Magnus/Unicron/Wreck-Gar etc. Besides, AoE ended with multiple sequel setups, and much like Animated and Prime's unused plot threads and characters, starting from the ground up simply for the sake of something different (or in the case of most TF fans something familiar) is teeth-grindingly irritating.

That could help the name Devastator but not the actual people the name is meant to be applied to.

I was talking critically. Plus, the idea that TF would be dead without the movies has been shot down several times in the past.

Well, the only thing that would even remotely have a chance to do that is a new writer and director. And I'm not placing bets on that happening, either.

im still of the belief that bay will return...nothing has officially been confirmed regarding his departure & as we all know; bay has been rumored to leave this franchise since it's inception.

i hope bay returns if only because it really makes no sense to "reboot" the film series with bay just for one film only to "reboot" it again....i mean..that's just insane...i say bay finishes the double-trilogy...anything else, at this point, with the optimus prime flying through space cliffhanger, would be a monumental disappointment.
