BT/Alternators is basically my favorite line. i have almost every single BT/BT*/even KP Rodimus including most variants, and all the unique Alternators. (i just need Camshaft, Rumble and Ravage v.2)

however i do not, nor do i ever intend to, own the Ram mold....

Er, Powermaster Prime didn't have yellow eyes. The first Prime did and his yellow eyes did indeed bug me.

I've been disappointed with every attempt to make an updated version of G1 Prime. The bot modes are usually pretty good, but they keep failing to make the vehicle mode boxy enough. You wouldn't think that a rectangle would be that difficult to pull off. They've invariably got the windshield cantilevered out in front of the rest of the cab. Makes it look like Prime ran into the K-rails. Somewhere, Motormaster is laughing.

I still think the worst two Primes, are Energon leader Prime (the deluxe sized one is mildly better) and first movie Leader Prime. I actually kind of like Energon Prime's vehicle mode (sans trailer), but his mode is horrible. It's his short rotund torso, complete with robot man boobs. Movie Prime had serious proportion issues, in both modes. The robot mode was kind of stumpy looking, and the truck mode was way too short, to replicate the real truck's long chassis.

Would it not be fair to say that any Prime you won't even buy is worse then any Prime you have bought? I know I skipped on Roll out and Command Animated supreme Prime. Watching videos and reading reviews, Hasbro seemed like they went all out on gimmicks for this one, and that, as usual, doesn't serve to impress collectors.

And yet still, I would probably not say that, but go with some side line Prime. Maybe Armada McDonald's Prime? That's pretty bad.

In defense of Armada Leader Prime, his main bot mode, while not superior to RID Prime in terms of engineering, is nicely designed and aesthetically pleasing, as is his futuristic looking alt mode. He just falters in his combined mode. I also thought Energon Prime's gestalt mode is one of the most well constructed gestalts available. Of course, they sacrficed almost everything else about Prime, like a decent truck mode and standard robot mode.

for me, where Armada Prime loses is that essentially he's exactly the same as G2 Laser Prime, except pretty much worse in every regards in terms of sculpting, articulation, proportions (MUNKEY TRUKK!), etc ~ even 'bendy prime', often heralded as the best figure in the Armada line, isn't really as good a mold. And this is 10 years later!

I still don't know why they haven't done a Laser Prime in G1 (or movie) Prime deco...

I agree with you there- he is inferior to G2 Laser Prime in almost every way. When Armada Prime came out, I wasn't that much into collecting, but I did pick up some RID toys including Prime and Magnus. While I liked Primes basic bot mode for RID, and I liked his alt mode, I didn't like how so many pieces popped off and in general how things didn't really hold well together when you either made super mode Prime or Omega Prime. So, when I got Armada Prime, he was definitely more basic, but still had his appeal in simplicity. I'm not saying he's better then RID Prime, but I think he tops Energon Prime and generally gets put down because he didn't outdo some of his predecessors. He is still a fun toy to me though.

Nope. Takara/Hasbro used G2 Laser Optimus Prime as Black Convoy/Scourge, not the figure posted above.

no, they did this one too, later on ~ Laser Rod mold Scourge was a TrU exclusive, Combat hero Mold scourge was a KB exclusive: Scourge (Destructicon) - Transformers Robots In Disguise - Transformers Resources (it says Wal-Mart exclusive on the data page, but i'm 99% cerain it was KB)

For me it has to be Armada Leader Prime. I just can not find one re-deeming quality about him.

Well, the majority have chosen Armada Optimus Prime as the worst of all Optimus Prime figures, followed by the Energon version.

I'm just surprised no one complained about the Movie/ROTF Voyager Optimus' backpack kibble, as that's what kept me from buying it.

Me too, huge solid backpacks on transformers are a big issue with me.
That being said, Voyager movie Prime is still a pretty decent transformer compared to some.

The first prime I owned was ROTF legends prime. He was just useless. Why make a prime that's half the size of bumblebee? Just dumb. Alternators Prime is also just terrible. I was and still am so disappointed with him. Rodimus and Rollbar from the same line are great figures though. McDonalds prime was crap, but he was a freebie. Who I CANNOT get rid of ugh -_-. I've not owned many of the older figures. Current primes I have are MP-10, awesome. AOE Leader prime (not too shabby except for the backpack) and FE Voyager Prime who is awesome. I've owned more like ROTF Leader prime, who I will get again. WFC prime, again. Regret selling him and FOC Prime. (Meh, too small). There will always be amazing and terrible versions of the same character. I compare Animated blackarachnia and Prime Airachnid. Although not exactly the same character, they basically are. The the Prime one sucks so badly. :)

Let's pump some more necrotic oil into this zombie thread's fuel lines!

I always enjoy threads like these, because it tends to show that no matter how much certain figures are hated by a majority of the fandom, they still seem to find some love SOMEWHERE.

I obviously can't comment on the Primes that I have not owned or handled personally, but from the ones I have, the one that takes the bottom spot is the Classics 2-pack Prime. The truck mode is flat-out awful, the gimmick does nothing for the figure, and the robot mode, especially that face, just looks "off" to me. It makes me think of some alternate universe Prime, or of a KO. Fail on all levels, at least in my opinion.

Hybrid Convoy's truck mode is kinda crappy too, but the bot mode kicks ass, and all the accessories make up for it for me.

For some reason, despite the goofy truck mode and odd power-up mode, Energon Prime was the one I was most looking forwards to when it came out. I just find the toy flat-out FUN. *shrugs* Go figure.

Armada Prime is middle-of-the-road for me. Even though I like the super mode's bulk, I found the lack of articulation and hollowness disappointing. I liked the regular robot mode just fine though. Unlike most of you, I loathe the Super-con version though. (No super mode, a robot mode that is only marginally more "bendy", and a truck mode that looks a lot worse than the Leader's.)

I love my G1 Prime, but there are faults by today's standards. Brickiness is not one of them though. As much as I love him, he has a boring transformation, easily lost accessories, and a big ol' hole in his back that coincides with his windows, meaning you can see right through him.
