Hey everyone, I love the fanfic forum! Some of the stuff here over the last couple of weeks has been really brilliant. It's given me cause to think back a bit - what TF fanfic stories have been my among my favorites over the years? We all have our lists, I'm sure, and I'm curious to hear what some other people have to say. My "top five" would be... 1. Raksha's "2005 Chronicles" - epic, moving and just a huge and wonderful story. It made me appreciate the 2005 universe in ways I hadn't ever thought to before. 2. Raksha's "Shelter From The Void" - the first fanfic I read, back in 1995 or so - sentimental, in that respect. 3. Belinda Kelly's "Andraxus" epic - a HUGE story, full of concepts that I've never seen explored anywhere else. For reference, it's far-flung future epic where the Autobots have long since been exterminated and the Decepticons have their own independent empire throughout the Sol system and beyond. Reading it for the first time was one of the most visceral experiences of my life. 4. Brandie Tarvin's "Chosen" - I'm not really an Autobot fan, but this story almost made me feel sympathetic for them in the 2005 universe. Plus, I'm kind of a sucker for "what-if?" epic stories, and this one fit the bill nicely. Speaking of which, does anyone have a copy of this story? I lost mine when I replaced hard drives a few months ago, and I can't find it anywhere online. Any ideas? 5. Kendrick's "Human Urges" - yeah, it's slightly derived from the "Only Human" concept, but it's brilliant, dark and brooding. I just wish it had a hope of being finished! Any updates, incidentally? I haven't heard from Kendrick in years... Oh, and on a bit of a side note...whatever happened to the Trannies (ala Rob Jung?) I haven't seen them circulated in five years or so. That's kind of a hard one. there are a lot of writes here that write well. I'll just give my top five writers to include more. Peteynorth Kickback RebelBot mp3(after you get past the gramatical errors) & myself...i need to do some writing...i hate homework... But that's jsut a handful of the good writers here.
Best! Rodimus! Fanfic! Ever! Probably my #1 fave for now. I have a printed copy of it somewhere. Don't know where it is online. Sorry. 2. Sale of the 24th Century by Lizard A clever crossover as Swindle wreaks havoc on Deep Space Nine. (I also love his Waspinator story - Hero.) 3. Where Angels Fear to Tread by Rob Jung All his fanfics rock but this one is the funniest I've seen. Junkions prevent an invasion of Cybertron as only they can while a fascinated Perceptor observes. 4. Death's Lessons by Nightwind (available at Lexicon last time I checked) One of the best Ratchet stories I've ever read. 5. Nature vs. Nurture by Tyria King (available at fanfiction.net) This one's not even finished yet and I love it. The creation of Sunstreaker and Sideswipe. All her stuff rocks. I also wanted to include ones by MariaShadow, MacX, PuraJazzBot, and Super Chocolate Bear but I couldn't pick just one! I could probably name a bunch more fanfics like a top 5 for EACH of my favorite characters, but I tried to go for variety in my picks.
I heard that Brandie was going to be trying to get 'Chosen' published professionally. Last time I talked to her, she was looking for the last remaining copies on the net to be removed, so I think it's a possibility. She's also got that excellent Swindle story in TF: Legends. Anyhoo. Back to the drawing board for me.
There's a few fanfics that I have read, but mainly over at www.fanfiction.net; somebody started writing an interesting one... Raising Holi, where Optimus Prime winds up taking in a little girl who thinks he's her father. Then somebody did up a novelization of the 1986 TF Movie, which is rather good... and somebody already started writing a fanfic based on the upcoming live action movie. I think there's another one that I liked, but I forgot the title...
Really? That's really exciting - good for her! What Swindle story do you mean, out of curiosity? Where can I find it? Joseph
There was an anthology of stories published a couple of years ago called 'Transformers: Legends'.
