I hollowed out Grimlock's head and reshaped and sculpted him by carving out individual pieces from a few different plastic materials. The pieces were then glued or screwed on to resemble his movie likeness. The teeth were also individually carved as well. Thanks optimusprimeroc!

This is just mind blowing. This is the best Grimlock I've seen.

The legs were made from voyager GL's lower section and modded to work with laeder GL's dino feet. Plenty of material than was removed and reshaped according to its corresponding parts. lastly the calf portion of GL had to be shortened in order for all the parts to measure up as the same length as the stock part. An extra ratchet joint was than placed at the ankle in order to support his weight. The upper thigh area houses a double swing hinge that supports a part that poses's the means to cover and extend the overall girth of the upper leg area .

This thing truly is an inspiring piece. I would LOVE to see this done to that oversized KO. Giving you more room to work, I can only IMAGINE how much more awesome you would be able to make this!!!

Hi Cheetor71, Thanks for the awesome compliment! I, too construct my customs as screen accurate as possible as I see fit at the time. I haven't been and avid fan or collector of Transformers for as long as you have, but I do enjoy it very much.

I am much obliged! Like you, I'm pretty much conservative on forums until the need arises, so your compliment means a lot, thank you!

OMEGAPRIME1983, Thanks for the faith and encouragement! If you are referring to the Stomp and Chomp Grimlock, it is considerably larger in size, but the simple nature of his construction, given the fact of his overall inaccuracies, the only easiest thing I can modify without too much work is the accurate sculpt of his head. Don't get me wrong, I have also considered this. But as stated before, it would be way too much work, I'd be better off starting with a complete scratch built platform of my own creation. When you look at S & C you'll notice the legs will have to be removed completely, and new ones will have to be installed in order to be screen accurate and to have full articulation and transforming capabilities. On top of that, you have his handle and weaponry on his back that must be removed completely as well. And those self giving physical arms have got to be ditched for ones that can rotate in place of the weapons with folding panels that represent his anterior, etc., etc., etc., you see where I'm going with this. The time it would take to do all that would not offset the price it would fetch even if it was high. That is why I have decided to make a Grimlock of my very own design, based on how he appears onscreen, except for mine, is truly scratch built from the ground up. It will measure over 5 ft long and leader Optimus Prime is actually in scale with it, albeit a little smaller than scale since my Grimlock is turning out to be more massive than I originally had planned. Best of all, he will be 100% transformable and TRULY screen accurate since I don't have to design my creation off of Hasbro's platform, instead, I can build his platform around Grimlock's design and not the other way around. I have been dying to post a WIP thread of my personal Grimlock build, but meeting or exceeding the challenges of such a creation, has gotten the best of my time, but I did manage to complete the top portion of his head, which is what
I will use to start my thread.

No sir . I'm taking about the actual over sized knock off of the figure. It isn't an official one at all, just a larger version of this one. Same detailing and engineering, my friend. I think if you applied your techniquefrom this buildto that figure, it would bethe most incredible movie custom ever. That said, after re-reading your post, I am so completely excited to see your scratch build!!!

THIS grimlock is worth 50-100, not that peice of crap on the store shelves. They really did a piss poor job with the AOE toys in my opinion. Great work man!

I'm in love with this custom, Prodigy. I love your meticulous attention to details and constant use of existing Hasbro "gifts" to take this out of the park. (Reminds me a little of somebody I know... :)  )

You have no idea how much I will watching you, and hoping for the remaining team, PLUS Snarl and Slog. Oh yes, I cannot wait.

Well done, sir. You are a legend with this custom. Truly.
