I have Sideswipe, Frenzy (blue), and Buzzsaw. None of them feel cheap in the slightest. Just as good as any official release!

My brother has a few and they seem to be fine. I'm told it varies per item though.

I bought KO versions of Prowl and Smokescreen for customs. If you have the originals, the KO's are definitely different. If you never had the originals, it might be hard to tell that the KOs were any different. It takes close inspection, but lots of little things give the KOs away. The construction is solid, but tolerances are a little off, paint details are a little sloppy in places, they use decals instead of tampos, etc. On the plus side, they are a lot easier to disassemble; because of the looser tolerances the pins are a lot easier to remove.

Do they really use decals? I'm looking at KO Smokescreen and Sideswipe, I don't see decals.
Anyways, I recently bought those two KOs, now I'm thinking about doubling up on all the cars. Sideswipe had a couple issues (those are well documented), but damn, I thought Smokescreen was nearly perfect. He has some light scratches on his windshield.

Smokescreen did for the doors, once I put them in alcohol the numbers and the devcon oil brand just slid off in one piece.

There are differences. You just need to know where to look. Like the face and the pelvic lines, the back of the doors, the police symbol etc etc...

I jumped on a KO of Sideswipe a while back.
There was a whole huge thread about it on here and it convinced me to give it a go, and really at the time Sideswipe was going for crazy money.
I could not be happier with it. Quality is superb.
There are some reports of paint messups, so it's a bit of a gamble, but overall those KOs are awesome.

I've seen some side-by-side shots of the cassettes, and they look to have fared worse. Good to hear some here give them a thumbs up, but the comparisons I saw had the paint apps on the KOs being much less precise on those tiny little guys. Huge price difference though.

    Ebay:
    Sideswipe, red alert, tigertracks
    Prowl, streak, silverstreak, smokescreen
    Ravage, rumble, frenzy, buzzsaw, ratbat
    Wheeljack
    Prime
    Grimlock

So far, the few ko MPs I have have all exceeded quality and paint of originals.

my first ko was mp streak. he was flawless. I bought ko smokescreen. he was flawless except he was missing screws in one of his legs. so the one side of the rear window would always slide off. I bought a loose mp sideswipe, not ko. and it feels less solid as the lady z's. I got ko ratbat today and he is beautiful. I'll buy ko wheeljack as soon as they are available.

I've picked up 2 so far. My Silverstreak is fantastic, no complaints whatsoever. Will definitely be getting the mold brothers over the next few months.

My G2 Sideswipe, not as good. Left hand ok but right hand won't hold either gun (actually think the slot might be too big, hard to tell) but is ok with the sword. Joints were ok, had to slightly enlarge the chest tab like everyone else. The inside of his left leg doesn't open out quite far enough. Can force it to the tab spot but it is not sitting square like the right side does. Overall, still planning on getting the rest but will mostly sit in vehicle modes (sharp looking vehicle modes at that!). I got a sticker sheet with him but will not apply, will probably roll reprolabels when I figure out what all I need to get ordered :)

I have two KO MP's, but the lambor mold: a KO Tiger-Track and a KO G2 Sideswipe.

In both cases I also have the official product -- the KO is for parts/repainting.

Honestly, these don't compare at all. Both my KO's have loose knees, don't fit perfectly in altmode, the head on Tiger-Track is misassembled, the roof hinges are scary, there are stressmarks on several pins, the legpanels don't fold properly, and the arms don't sit as flush as with the original.

As far as KO's go, they're pretty good. But still, they're clearly KO's and not a substitute for the real thing.

I would never recommend these instead of the originals. Not that those are perfect, but with both it's clear which is the KO and which is the official figure -- and that's not a compliment to the KO.

Kitbash fodder, that's what the KO's are good for.

So I bought a Tiger Tracks KO and he’s a bit of a mess. His biggest problem is his left arm pin sheered right off and now is not connected. Can anyone point to a tutorial to fix this? I don’t mind messing with a KO. Otherwise a little loose in spots but overall fine especially for the price.
