I'm not surprised no-one on here's really that interested in thee figures. This is all part of Hasbro's 'great' plan that started with the AOE figures: Generations for collectors, the simplified toys lines (which is technically now the 'main' toy line whether we like it or not as this is what accompanies the current TV show) for the kids.

That's too bad they're basically shutting out all the older fans, toy-wise.

...even if all the character designs seem to be "Prime Shockwave with a different head"

I'm usually optimistic towards figures everyone else hates on, but this isn't one of those times. Bumblebee looks more like a legends/legion figure with articulation.

Looks like I'll just be focusing my attention towards the Combiner Wars line.

Something about the colors being used here (the large amount of stark white and pale blue against the drastic black and red) makes me think of fast food to go bags/ packaging. It doesn't help that the toys look like Burger King kids meal toys....

Kind of yes and kind of no. It just depends on whether you're really into the cartoon enough to want figures from it or not.

When they first revealed the upscaled BH Cyberverse figures their basic rationale was that they've been "trying to please everyone but failing to please anyone 100%" (cartoonish style to please kids but increasingly complex figures that adult collectors would appreciate). So as its the older collectors who tend to enjoy the comics etc. they get the characters from those and other updated versions of classic characters in the generations line, while the kids are 'hooked and reeled in' by the simplified line and its associated media and they will grow up to become the next generation of collectors who will 'graduate' to the Generations line. Obviously the movies are the area where the two lines merge.

Not necessarily defending or condemning the approach, though I do think offering too many versions of each character does kind of bloat the shelves.

I'm pretty sure Grimlock's tail just detaches to become some sort of weapon, that's hardly parts-forming. It's not like you have to completely dissemble one mode and reassemble to parts to form the other mode. Ask Omega Supreme.

Warrior Class Bumblebee looks pretty good... I might just get him...

Hyper-Change Bumblebee looks really good, too.

Hyper-Change Grimlock looks wonderful in T-Rex mode but is a let down in robot mode.

One-Step Sideswipe actually looks pretty good.

I don't know why you're comparing this to Animated but I don't this toyline will be bad, It'll more likely be like the Prime RID line which was just alright.

I actually quite like Bumblebee, he's mistransformed to hell and back but it's not that bad really.
