I have Ollie and had no issues. Yeah there's some really thin fragile parts... but since I'm not ham-fisted I'm not worried about breaking it

Swap it for a new one. Some of those points I've not seen....like screws coming through etc. I only have three issues, very thin backpack bridge, the same fold I had to sand the posts as he wouldn't transform and the limited forward hip movement. If it wasn't for the super thin backpack swivel I actually wouldn't be so concerned because he is absolutely tiny and very involved.

It isn't acceptable that he needs fixes out of the box but it has been a known fact since early reviews, Ppl should know what they are getting in to. That being said I have it on good authority XTB are really gunning for high quality here in much the same way that Transistor is a huge step up for KFC.

I'm a little worried about preordering this guy without knowing more about the dreaded QC issues this may have, but December is already near, so does anybody know where's the cheapest place in Europe to order?

^I want to say that either dubk or kapow had a deal that gave you an extra tape, ironpaw iirc.

    Some perspective please....

Out of curiosity I looked back through the Ollie thread and conducted an unofficial count of posts from people who bought Ollie and gave an opinion. Everyone generally falls into one of four categories:

    Great figure - 16 posts
Good figure with modifications - 10 posts
Average figure but overpriced and\or I shouldn't have to mod it - 7 posts
Horrible figure (POS) - 3 posts

Admittedly I don't know how many of the 16 "great figure" posts had to mod their figure, but they didn't mention it if they did. The 3 "POS" posters most likely did get especially bad figures, but 3 on one extreme versus 16 on the other extreme is pretty impressive imho.

As far as comparing Ollie to Krank\Stax; please keep in mind that Ollie is 1.5" shorter and has significantly more parts. If people want an accurately MP-scaled Wheelie that looks good in both modes, you're going to have small delicate parts. I had posed a question in the Ollie thread which was never answered...so I'll see if anyone here can. Can you name me a figure superior to Ollie that transforms, looks great in both modes, is similar in size, has a comparable parts count, and is $60 or less? Bumblebee may be down the road, but I'd be willing to bet that he too will have his share of small delicate parts.

So tempted to respond to the "Great figure - 16 posts" but I know these folks wont be able to handle the truth.

I don't really see the need to bother with preordering. I know of seven or so stateside e-tailers who will be selling him. I REALLY doubt they'll all sell out immediately. There should be time to read reviews & make a decision.

Personally, I intend to try & wait to make a purchase until January. Since, I expect he'll be coming out later than announced (or at the end of the month). I also think its possible, that if Takara has a Masterpiece Megatron due out in 2015, they might try to announce him in January.

I mean, I would think they'd hold off on announcing anything until Gold Megatron has been for sale for a bit. I think MP-10 was released shortly after MP-01 Last, wasn't he? This looks good enough that I still might bite, but I'm willing to give Takara a very small window in which they might catch my attention.

I don't collect masterpiece, so maybe there's an aspect of it selling quicker than classics that I'm missing, but can't people hold off on preorders until reviews come out? Since its Megatron won't e-tailers order a crap load of these guys to have in stock well beyond preorders? Or do these masterpiece guys sell through runs on almost preorders alone?

I'm asking because the companies reputation seems...questionable...among some to many. So wouldn't it be advantageous to wait for reviews after it drops, or do you really run the risk of it selling out?

Many of us ordered through Aces to get the preorder special. But id imagine these will be available beyond release date and reviews. I dont recall any MP 3P figures selling out before release. Some sold out shortly after release (Quakewave) but not before. And even Quakewave had a second run (or second delayed batch?). So yeah, if you have concerns of QC issues then wait for reviews. But if reviews are positive then I'd order shortly after. Because if its good and sold out, expect at least double aftermarket price like Hegemon.

Oh, I'm not ordering. I personally don't like masterpiece, I prefer the updated versions of classics. I don't really like G1 accuracy myself but understand why others would want it. I was more having trouble understanding the urgency many felt to preorder so I was looking for clarification. I rarely look in MP threads so I wasn't sure if there was more of a straight need to preorder to ensure you get one due to small production runs, or if there were deals to be taken advantage of, or if people were just impatient. Thank you for taking the time to clarify for me.

I so understand what you mean, fortunately for me or should I say I unfortunately for me I owned it well in advance before this was announced so I decided to instantly pass on this megatron no matter how good it looks! The price is also another worrying factor for me, it seems to good to be true and when that's usually the case it means corners are being cut and given the quality of Ollie it's not a very good sign!

Those words sum it up perfectly, I couldn't even bring myself to putting it in my collection, it sat in my cupboard until I got rid of it.

Invalid comparison really, if you include MP-05 and MP-09 repaints to the original mould that's four figures out of about thirty something mp figures, what, a one in nine chance Takara release a dud compared to a 66% chance transbot release a dud, given their ollie is a POS and kranx and stax were so and so, yep, Takara is so awful!

Couldn't have said it any better!

I think you fail to understand his point, Tigerblade, even if it was QC free, the quality of the plastic is so bad, it can't be excused particularly when you consider what you're paying for it!?

Interesting stats, do you also have one which shows how many of those people calling it a great figure own Kronos, that ilk are a very, very forgiving kind to the point of being biased, I honestly can't take the opinion on QC of a person that owns that abomination seriously. To the stage that when this figure comes out, the only reviewers opinions I'll be concerned with are Bobby Skullface and Optibotimus, they aren't afraid to call a figure as they see it.

With the other reviewers, I dunno..... really when they were all reviewing Kronos it was as if they were trying hard not call it as they saw it but what they wanted to see it as with their; "Oh ...it's a great figure, if you enjoy having a $160 statue that does nothing really and looks good!" type of comments! For that reason Skullface and Optibotimus's reviews are the only ones that will be relevant to me in whether or not to get this figure.

HAHA, you know why Botimus was less than nice in his review? He actually bought that figure vs getting a free copy. Watch some of his reviews on less than stellar figures that he praises. If you really want to watch reviews for opinions Id look for guys that dont get a ton of freebies if you want real opinions or stick with feedback from the forums. For me I watch to get a better look at the figures and how the transformation works vs their thoughts on if it is good or not.

Ok Mr Condescending....I clearly don't work with plastic tolerances at all in toys and have zero idea of what I'm talking about.

The plastic isn't actually that bad. The problem is the figure is so small so the parts are tiny and too thin in places and therein lies the problem. Some areas, such as the backpack hinge, would benefit from being diecast so can be very thin yet remain strong. Look at Laserbeak's tailfins for example...tiny/thin pieces of plastic that are prone to breakage. He a piece of shit too? That being said there is no excuse for the hinge parts being too long or the hips being loose....that needed more stringent qc testing.

Believe it or not we all have our own ideas and levels of tolerances and that is something you need to understand, shouting the loudest about something doesn't necessarily mean you are right. You don't give a shit what I say though and I really don't care for your hyperbolic rants.

XTB made some decent figures before Ollie I believe. Hopefully Ollie was a one-off. I can certainly appreciate the trepidation experienced collectors have towards Apollyon.

I too, would hold off until reviews come out if it weren't for my wife buying this one for Xmas.

At worst, I have a 140$ statue which kind of sucks
At best, I have a great looking MP Megatron that looks the part for a very good price.

I'm with Tiger on this one. Can't people just like things that they like without being told their personal opinion is wrong?
