Does anyone know what color red I need to do some touch ups with?

 

Mine arrived this week. Overall, a real cracker and a great accompaniment to the other car bots. The car is awesome and although mine has some tiny paint probs, it's great quality. Luckily nothing has ever come close to the first run of Lambor.

The head mold is truly awesome. And the transformation is really quite smart. I especially love the way the head comes out of the chest, I thought that was a really cool feature.

If I am to be critical, I'd say the proportions and paint would have been better closer to the cartoon. His overall physique looks too big compared to his head if you compare to the cartoon.

Agreed. These things are mass produced, and price be damned, its near impossible to get one with little to no paint app issues. I think the only ones that came to me close to damn near perfect and without any (to my eyes) paint issues that stand out, were surpringly, my 1st wave MP Sideswipe ( I got really lucky on this one from the gate), and my MP Bluestreak...the rest of the cars, Prowl, Smokescreen, Red Alert, and Wheeljack (though very very mininal) were hit or miss somewhere.

Basically your playing russian roulette with these things and frankly, buying multiples in hopes of catching a "perfect" one are slim..

That having been said, BBTS has been my store of choice simply because IF I shoudl have an issue its never been a problem in exchanging.

Case in point: I had to return 3 Fortress Maximus's back to BBTS because every single one of them had some major problem: 1st one had crack in the leg, 2nd one had the hip joint problem, and the 3rd one had a problem with the elevator knob that turns, it was all loose and floppy. I thought 3rd time would be the charm...I gave up and returned that one too.

I want a FM back but im reluctant to go down that road a 4th time unless the price drops below $200 which its getting close at BBTS wiht their $239 current retail.

 

Wheeljack is glorious. I like that the white is just plastic so it does not flake off, but I don't like that it has potential to turn yellow.

But it is a wonderful toy.

 

Could someone please post a high resolution scan of the instructions? Having a hard time transforming this guy. Already have stress marks on one of the side mirrors and felt like he was going to break when I was converting him from bot to car mode...

Many of the trasnformation hinges/ joints feel super tight. For example the front tip of the car that is on a double joint. Feels like I am going to break it each time I perform the step to convert the figure into either mode...

Any tips on transforming this guy both ways without stressing the plastic or risking it breaking?

 

just don't bend the wing. if you turn it in tandem with the wheels, it never needs to be bent much at all, i bent mine once, never again, much easier to just turn it part way, rotate the wheel assembly and turn the rest of the way

 

so i finally got him in hand and he is sexy as hell! the best looking car mode period for the mp's but i think i like the datsun robot mode a little better. wj is fantastic with poseability and is striking in all views of him. however my pin points about him:

1- there is some paint coming off of him next to his windshield, not sure if it was me or if it was already coming off. i kept transforming him back and forth after i realized it just to see if that specific part hits anything along the way and it does not. not to bad of a chip but noticeable enough. look out peeps, he flakes!

2- the wings can be scary as hell!!!!! one was perfect right out of the box and moved and turned without problems. now the other, TIGHT AS HELL!! i was clenching the butt checks rotating it around and bending it for the first time already hearing in my head the "snap" of a $70 piece of plastic in my hands. but luckly, it worked, and with time, it loosend up just right. peeps, becareful in the beginning and don't forget to pucker up!

3- for some reason, i found the hand/wrist transformation from robot to car very tricky. his hands kept popping off, maybe i am doing something wrong, i need to do more research on it.

4- minor gripe, the gun is to small, no worries, carry on

mp wj, a great addition to the mp family! no regrets what so ever for purchasing him and he looks great next to his mp brothers. now i am even more excited about getting mp bb so i can have the 2 first ever transformers together that appeared in more than meets the eyes back in 84'! great job takara tomy!

It will one month plus before I get this since I am shipping him with MP BB and Rat trap. Pre XMas gift.

 

In my opinion, Wheeljack is one of those toys that looks better in vehicle mode!  

You just can't beat the aggressiveness of his alt mode.

 

I love the high back of the lancia. This guy really looks great, I'll have to get one from somewhere, sooner rather than later. How does the white plastic compare to the white paint in person? Any noticable difference? The pics make it look like there is.

 

It's good but it isn't paint.

 

3 and none are perfect. All are good but none are perfect.

 

I must have impossible luck with my MPs. I can't point out a single paint issue with any of the 7 figures I have.

An excellent replacement for my Generations figure. I'll order one this Christmas for sure!

 

It's not that bad. Paint would have made him look a bit classier at first, but at the same time, I think this mold would have been much more susceptible to paint scratches than the other cars because of the way he transforms. In particular, the top part of the shins (where the side doors wrap around in alt mode) probably would have been a hot mess after a few transformations if they had been painted. The white panels with his tail-lights are painted white and mine already has a bunch of scratches from transforming him.

 

The white parts on the tail end are all paint. So are the white stripes on his hood and roof, despite being applied to white plastic.

 

This toy is now my favorite Transformer. Robot mode nailed it. Vehicle mode rocks. Such fun having Wheeljack in this scale. I can't wait for the repaint, It's a must have for me.

He looks great next to Prowl and Sideswipe.
Saving for BB now  

 

Okay so I'm looking at an alternate set up for Wheeljack's feet here. Can someone post pics of him next to other MPs with his feet set up like this?

 

Anyone else have a wobbly arm/ side of the chest in bot mode. My bot's right chest seems to wobble a lot while the left side seems to stay more securely in place...
