Actually it is, you know why because by then all the marvel and dc movies will have come into full effect and no one will want to watch a transforemrs movie, I gurantee it.

 

It's too damn early for a reboot.

It's funny how people think just because we're getting a new director were also getting a reboot.

Just finish this series with two more movies and reboot the movies 10 years later or if this new director makes the movies better, then let's have at least one more trilogy and then reboot.

Oh FFS man, the point is that the movies are still doing well enough to continue. That's proof right there, regardless of what any one of us say.

Lighten up. I'm only the poster child of the Bay fandom if you make me that way.

 

This does nothing but show you have literally no faith in the films to stand up to the super hero films in the future.

A break would be a godsend for the films. Five years to wash out the bad taste of the old films that have built up, so a new film reboot can have everybody come in for a fresh experience and hopefully it will be just like the first film's successes all over again. A clean slate so the writers can actually use all the big names again instead of every single fucking Decepticon being dead at this point. Seriously, they're bankrupt when it comes to having Decepticons of any worth anymore, AoE proved this when all it has is the yet-again-resurected Megatron, a side bad guy from Animated, and evil Bumblebee. That's it. Soundwave's dead, Starscream's dead, Shockwave's dead, everybody with a name to give a shit about is dead. The franchise needs them to come back, but the only way to do that is to do a true, hard reboot.

 

I think, as much as I'd like a complete restyling and reboot. It would be nice to see a better Director take the Bay-Verse, and make a really good interesting movie using existing characters and "plotlines", just to prove once and for all, that is it really was Bay that was the problem. (oh, and a new writer too!)

 

It's not really unreasonable to think that we'll get a reboot. Tons of things get canceled, and never get proper endings. The Transformers Dreamwave comics, for one, and a lot of old TV shows went until they got cancelled like Hogans Heroes, no actual ending. An old Lord of the Rings cartoon was picked up by another company who couldn't afford to continue it. It happens a lot.

 

That's a strawman. The question isn't binary: will the movies continue or not. There is little doubt that AOE was financially successful enough to warrant another TF movie. Your insistence on focusing on the strawman is why you keep falling back to "it makes money" as the answer to everything.

The question up for discussion is whether it was as successful (from the standpoint of profit to Paramount) as the previous iterations, or as it might be, with a change of direction. Will Paramount/Viacom want a change in direction (including director) to try and reverse certain trends and to increase bottom line profitability (not just the total box office gross), which has been likely dropping due to the shift in the box office distribution?

There is, of course, a risk with messing with an established formula: you could fail spectacularly. In the end, the calculus for Paramount is whether they'll go with the devil they know and try to ring every drop of profit out the franchise, even if it is declining, or will they roll the dice to try and increase profit?

 

Well the holywood is bound for bankruptcy. Since more movies have a lower income in the states and bigger abroad

 

I'm not sure how you come to that conclusion based solely on the fact that there are differential returns. There's no black and white conclusion that can be drawn, certainly not bankruptcy. Foreign revenue is still revenue, it just needs to be accounted for properly in the number crunching.

Let's take a couple of run-of-the-mill examples from 2014.

1) TMNT, the 11th biggest movie of 2014. 125M production budget. Assume another 125M of marketing budget. 250M to break even. 190M domestic/201M foreign. Long term, that nets 332M for the studio from domestic alone, assuming $1.75 on the domestic box office dollar. Foreign will roughly bring in another 150M, even if we go with a conservative estimate of $.75 on the box office dollar, average global. That's 482M on a 250M investment, over ten years. Not great and certainly not a tent pole film, but it's not going to bankrupt anyone.

2) Now, you dig a little deeper to #20, Mr. Peabody, and you're getting into the loser territory. 145M production budget, probably 290M total budget, 111M domestic/161M foreign. That's 194M/120M over ten years (314M total), which is really bad on a 290M investment.

3) Dig deeper to #30, Let's Be Cops (never heard of it), and you see profit again. 17M production, probably 34M total cost. 81M domestic/34M foreign. 141M/25.5M (166M total). 166M return over ten years on a 34M investment? That's pretty good.

You can't just divine bankruptcy out of differential returns.

 

TF5. We need to see Galvy's true powers. After that, we need a reboot. Say, four or so years after TF5. We need people to see this genre's potential. It COULD be like the Marvel films (in terms of quality and family fun), but it just needs the right TLC.

Oh, and it's been three months since I've looked at this site for more than five minutes..

THIS fandom??? Or should I say fandumb? Nobody will ever agree on anything. Nothing will change. We'll have the same amount of haters & complainers no matter what they do. They could make a 100% duplicate of the G1 cartoon in live action & nothing would change. Any director is doomed, doesn't matter who it is. God could direct the film & Jesus could write the script & this fandumb still would bitch & moan about it.

Not negativity its the truth. Everybody has different tastes and opinions and whatever happens not everybody will like it. There is also the possibility everyone pleased at the news Bay might not return will hate whatever movie happens afterward just as much or maybe even more than a movie Bay was involved in. New director does not automatically mean better movie.

 

No reboot, not until they finish this series.

Seriously, after that cliffhanger, if they did a reboot, it would be terrible.
