agreed, it doesn't confirm anything except that he's in talks to direct 13th Hour as his next film. And THAT doesn't even confirm that he is directing it at all. He's just in negotiations. I'm sure he is going to direct the 13th Hour but the only thing that it confirms is that he's not directing TF5 as his NEXT film

in deed. AoE make 1 billion its not because AoE is an amazing movie, its just mean AoE have a great marketing team. if you ask about satisfaction, majority of them probably want a refund. hell i got my ticket for free, and i still want a refund.

not enough to survival a war ridden world for million of years, thats for sure.

and i'm not going to argue against the magical regen part.. afterall transformer are alien in nature and their compose of metal not found on earth..

No. The Rock happened under Bruckheimer, and Bay didn't have enough panache yet to overtake so many production decisions, e.g., completely changing the script for the sake of squeezing in all his favorite set pieces.

You'll notice the other movies Bay directed under Bruckheimer were all ridiculous, but nowhere near the level of the TF movies (especially the latter ones, once SS was checked out).

If he really doesn't come back, I absolutely think it'll be because the studio was unhappy with the domestic box office, and is afraid the the worldwide box office will slump significantly after AoE.

They were smart to get that one out, essentially worldwide, before all the negative press had enough time to sink in.

If anything, it makes the term "Bayformers" an inaccurate term for the live action movies going forward which I personally loathed. Like him or not, what Michael Bay did was bring in a lot of eyeballs to Transformers media and not just the films. He got the line to succeed in ways it hadn't done when Hasbro had gone back to Autobots battling Decepticons as the main theme of the series before 2007.

The next person will have a lot to consider and hopefully nothing weak and lazy as rebooting which is just a cop out for having nothing creative enough in mind. I hope the arc that was started with "creators" has a satisfying conclusion that ties in nicely with the other elements in the films like the AllSpark.

    Doesn't matter...Damage is done.

I don't know how they could get anyone of worth to pick up the franchise at this point.

Except the Paramount execs keep saying that they're actively trying to get Michael Bay to come back, that they're not even considering the possibility of having other directors because they want him back.

I could make an argument that they are objectively bad, but something tells me you're not gonna believe a word I say. You're not different than any of the other uhh...yeah...that try to argue that.

Sorry, but excuses like that ring hollow. There has existed standards for good and bad movies and those in between for decades, and yet people want to think that doesn't exist. Yeah right.

I can't say exactly why. I liked the death spheres that made the Scorponok noise, and when the aliens fired the peg missles, I had a moment of "AAH, AAH OOH THAT'S FUCKING CLEVER." But other than that, I just thought it was okay. I dunno why everyone hates on it so much.

Yes, of course. For as we all know, when Michael Bay's movie that he dared to call Transformers was inflicted upon audiences in 2007, that was the end of Transformers as a franchise. Nothing of worth was was ever again made that bore the name Transformers upon it, and what few things that Hasbro managed to release was loved by no one, and shunned by all.

I'm still confused why any of us still frequent this dead husk of a website.

    RIP Transformers: 1984-2007.

It was just a big, dumb, loud movie, and to me, that's perfectly fine. I enjoyed it too. It was entertaining. Like watching a monster truck show, except the monster trucks talk and have conflicts.

He didn't mean "ruined forever". He meant that Transformers' reputation as a film series is pretty thoroughly damaged in the eyes of many directors.

Bay made Transformers famous for being a series of cliches and SFX dumped on poorly-written scripts. There are several directors who could make amazing Transformers movies, but they may view the series as being beneath them now.

Hope. We want to like Transformers, despite the franchise drowning in successful mediocrity.

I just realized he's doing this 13 Hours film for Paramount.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's doing this as an in-between piece before Transformers 5, just like how Paramount produced Pain and Gain in order to get him to do Transformers 4.

    Lol.

While I had no issue with Bay and enjoyed his movies, I'm not really sad to see him to go either. 4 movies was a hell of a run. There's not many directors that stick around with a series of movies for that long.

And I know people are celebrating at getting a new director, but hopefully this doesn't turn out to be a case of "Careful what you wish for...".

He will probably stay on board as an exec producer, which basically means he's in control off everything except how the pictures are shot. (Even that wouldn't amaze me).

I think it's kind off low of him to lay out the story of a new triology where he want's the story to go and stops mid story. now the new director can't do what he want's and is stuck on that rail.

New director should always be in control of what story, placement and visuals he want's in there. Not a continuation of what the previous director decided to make.
I mean this in the sense that the new director now can't use a lot of characters or design choices he would probably prefer over the last installments.

Anyone have some ideas on that?

like new Transformer series, I'm always happy with the totally new design aesthetics each new series brings. Keeps it fresh and as a collector exciting.

Most directors don't have that sort of creative control at all, though.

There's only a handful of directors who have that sort of influence with making big budget blockbusters, and I find it hard to believe that they'll get another big name if Bay decides not to do 5.
