Now that his name has been confirmed, we should ask the adminstrators change the name of this thread to: Planet X Summanus (Not FOC Dinobot Snarl)

Summanus: very nice. Has anyone else mentioned the translucent plastic on the tips of his wings, in robot mode? It's most noticeable on the bottom image of his robot mode. This sorta makes me think we won't be seeing translucent plates, if they've already given him the translucent plastic on his wings.

I know that his look needs to agree with the others, but ICK....that's some skinny a** lookin' Stegosaurus.

    No thank you.

And you would know because you grew up on a stegosaurus ranch.

Looks fine to me and he agrees with many modern illustrations. But if your only points of reference are the frumpy, crude, outdated dinosaur modes of the G1 dinobots, then yeah, he's probably too skinny for you.

All in all fairness, I too thought the stego looked anemic upon first glance. But it's definitely too late for me as I'm all in on PX's dinobots. I can forgive any perceived 'smallness' in this particular release as it's a minor nit and certainly not a deal breaker.

The "skinny" look is a more current approximation of what the animal is believed to look like. Stegosaurs were absolutely massive animals that needed to remain nimble for their defensive strategy to work. The short forelegs and lower front end served as a pivot point for the creature to rotate quickly around in order to keep its tail and spikes facing attackers. The heavy, long rear legs kept the tail up and in the air and helped stegosaurus anchor itself for a more powerful tail-swing.

A chubby, short-legged animal can't do any of those things. It's just going to drag its tail around behind it while its belly bangs around between its rear legs, until some predator shows up and decides to attack from the side.

    Plus, this looks cooler :p

I like this figure because it's giving us an actual alternative to the original design, as opposed to the several other versions coming out in roughly the same size range that have all opted for G1 accuracy. I dig it! And what's great is that those who don't have tons of awesome options right now. For once we can all be happy. :)

It would appear that Snarl has a translucent sword. I wonder if they will come out with a set of translucent swords for the other Dinobots.

If the translucent plastic is not too likely to break, then I would love for Snarl's plates to be translucent.

I see some on his wing pieces, right on the tips, so I don't see them doing the plates. Maybe fan feedback could change that though; who knows? I'm with you though!

Well if the plates are easily detachable, someone could make some red resin casts of the dorsal plates...

So back in Sludge's thread I had made an educated guess about his release based on dates from Caelus. Here's the posts for that.
Now, since I had to go dig for that I might as well make my predictions for Snarl.

    June 20th- shiloette
    October 28th- prototype
January - could see the production test
March - could see final product
    April - packaging and release.

Assume an extra 2 months for delays and that puts Snarl at a June release. So some time between April and June is the likely window for Snarl.
