Anyone here happen to get one of the masks from NYCC 2014? I keep looking at it but I'm not sure if I should just cave in and get it off eBay :/
I've got one. It's neat as long as you don't pay too much for it. You can't really do much with it right now, anyway.
Right now the cheapest I've seen is 30 or 35 shipped. More than I wanted to pay, but what do you think?
I got mine for $30 shipped, so meh. I'm not sure if it's one of those things that will lose value or gain it, so it's up to you.
Wait, images of the sets have been up for weeks now? Huh. Tahu and Kopaka look cool. Clear plastic is surprising, but I like them. Might drop money to buy Tahu. How much did people say Tahu was going to cost again? $30?
$20. Well, now that's a stea-waitaminute. Aren't there two different sets for a few of the Toa? Because I think the video I found here is displaying the larger one.
Half the toa are twenty, and have more, larger parts. Half the toa are about $15, with slightly less parts and smaller parts. There's only one of each character, though. Only one Tahu, only one Gali, etc.
So, I tweaked my Vladek set a little. A commenter on BZpower suggested that I put some tires on him, so I did. He's also sligthly taller, and has different armor.
In addition to completing several sets, promos, mods, combiner components, one other contest model and one custom model, I've decided to use my Bricklink Wanted List to get the remaining pieces for a certain contest model... I'm still missing a bunch of pieces, but holy fuck has the eBay order come in handy.
Am I the only one who thinks of the possibility that LEGO may have also made a golden protector mask?
I remember in I think 4th grade I bought a book from the Scholastic catalog which had that guy on the cover. That thing was amazing.
And Keetongu's species actually TAMED those things and RODE them. How did these guys become nearly extinct again? Also, let's take a moment to talk about how ridiculous some of the concepts for the Mistika were. (Not that I'm one to talk, I drew concepts for a wave of six oni-like Bionicle villains, all with crazy two-colored kabuki-styled hair pieces made with actual threaded hair...)
chro posted this as his 1st entry: https://www.flickr.com/photos/chromega/10660713313/ ... And that's just his 1st one. ...we're so fucking doomed.
I feel like we could still have a chance if a judge realizes that it doesn't have the Bionicle "feel", but impressive builds tend to stomp out that kind of reasoning.
