I wasn't debating quality. I was just responding to a comment saying the MCU was $ wise for successful than TF.

Now that I think of it the plots are very similar, if you just tilt your head, squint your eyes and... Stick your thumb up your ass.

    Yup, quite similar indeed.

Cool vid BTW, would make an interesting angle for a crossover.

It helps me sleep at night knowing that if Decepticons really did invade Earth, I could probably take down the stunticons with nothing but a skateboard and a pen knife.

Avengers ripped off the ships from Dotm they look so similar and why does everyone want Transformers to be owned from Marvel or Disney I'm fine with these movies the way they are.

Bigger profits and bigger budgets for both production and marketing. Plus, if I was an investor, I'd look at the economic dive AoE took domestically, and the fact that even worldwide, it didn't as well as it's predecessor, I'd see a downward trend and that these movies wouldn't stay viable for long, and I'd hop over to Marvel Studios, which might not have generated a higher average gross, but have proven time and time again that they have solid returns for less money spent, consistently, and have actually been doing steadily better since solo-movie wise since Avengers.

Seriously. We have to accept that it's no longer viable to say "These movies don't suck, they make so much money!" because soon, neither halves of that sentence will be true.

Funnily enough, some people are. Something about the fact that AoE was set in China while AoU is set in... well, not China, but another asian demographic. There are already comparisons between Ultron and Lockdown (despite the very little exposure we have of him), and the title is relatively similar at that. Yes, people really are this way already.

I've seen people comparing AoU to a Transformers movie (even mistaking the Hulkbuster armor for a Transformer) and I'm just sitting there like "No." Honestly, how can you do that?

And when they revealed AoE's title, I immediately thought of AoU.

I don't know it seems like people here understand the business side of film about as well as lay people can.

Most of us know that there is a huge difference between the cut of the box office a Hollywood studio sees between the domestic box office and the foreign box office. Throw in the taxes and everything else and unless it's a co-production in that nation like Age of Extinction was then a studio is only going to see 5 to 10% of the international box office in their pocket.

Domestically the Transformers films have been loosing box office traction each film while Marvel exceeded domestic box office expectations with Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel seems to have an almost unlimited number of ways to spin off more franchises and drop what doesn't work while Transformers seems stuck with just one Transformers film every 2 to 3 years.

Some nations like the US have a strong DVD, Blu-Ray, streaming market allowing studios to make money after the box office run. While other nations like China don't have a strong home entertainment market so you only make your money once.

Plus Paramount didn't show much faith in Transformers Age of Extinction because the movie was flooded with product placement to cut some of the studio's investment in the film.

I'm also not seeing Paramount using their profits to make better films. If anything it seems like the quality of Paramount films has been going down not up. This is the studio that fumbled the ball so bad with GI Joe that the studio rather take it's chances with Jem and the Holograms than take another action movie beating on something that isn't Transformers.

Well, in fairness the Hulkbuster armor was kinda transforming around the regular Iron Man armor in the trailer and they're both giant metal fighting robots.

Not true at all. Those things were overstaying their welcome by the second movie.
