It wasn't a insult, it was an observation. The ot had just as many, if not more, flaws than the pt.

Hey, where's the Holiday Special option?

Hard to believe Clone Wars, as great as it got, started there. But everything must start somewhere, I suppose.

A New Hope is my favorite, but Empire is the better film.

With the prequels, I can enjoy certain things. Duel of the Fates, Dooku, Order 66, how the Yoda CGI was vastly better than the Yoda puppet in Phantom Menace. That puppet wasn't the same as the OT Yoda puppet, right?

Phantom Menace was actually my first Star Wars film when I was young, so I have nostalgic ties to it despite it being overall shitty. Yes, I have affection for Jar Jar too.

The main thing I enjoy about the prequel era is again, The Clone Wars. So lets rank it:

    1. A New Hope
    2. Empire Strikes Back
    3. The Umbara arc (CW)
    4. The Lawless arc (CW)
    5. Return of the Jedi
    6. Revenge of the Sith
    7. Phantom Menace
    8. Attack of the Clones

A new hope for, then Empire, then Episode 3, despite it's flaws I like it, and it being my first Star wars film I saw in theatres.

I enjoy all 6 movies, but if you can't recognize the different level of quality between the Prequel Trilogy and the first two movies (Jedi is closer to the Prequels than eps. 4 & 5), then that's on you.

I'd recommend watching the Red Letter Media reviews of the prequels, which -- in addition to listing complaints about story preference, which are neither here nor there -- break down the movies and explain objectively things that are poor about the direction and writing.

I must admit, I voted for Empire, but for a few years RotS was my favorite because it was the only one I saw in theatres, plus I was only in fourth grade at the time, and I was not a very smart boy. Nine years later, however, I reevaluated everything and came to this conclusion:

    Overall:

    1. Empire - Really wish I was in theatres to hear "I am you father" and everyone's reaction. Closest thing I got was Star Trek Into Darkness' "My name is Khan" and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' "NO!"
    2. Hope - If only I saw this one first.
    3. Return - Still amazed by how an underdeveloped race managed to help defeat the Empire.
    4. Revenge - Seeing Palpatine duel IMO was almost better than Vader's fight. Almost.
    5. Phantom - gotta give props for introducing me to the series, plus Darth Maul. Death to Gungans, however.
    6. Clones - Nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope

Sounds more like an insult to me.

I would make sweet love to this man on the spot.

Shall we make lists? I like lists. Let's start here:

Now you post something from the OT as bad as that, and we'll see where this goes.

You did, live with your decisions.

lol of course you aren't. There's no debate to be had.

You don't like people who prefer the original trilogy? I don't like people who get defensive about the prequel trilogy. Enjoying them is fine. I enjoy them. But I also enjoyed Revenge of the Fallen. I can enjoy something and still recognize its flaws. I'd respect prequel trilogy apologists more if they adopted that attitude rather than getting angry over a position they can't even begin to back up.

Amidst the humor, he points out aspects of Lucas' blocking and direction in the prequels that are objectively poor. Points that are inarguable.

I'm not saying the pt is flawless, sure it has its highs and lows, but so dose the ot.

The lows of the PT don't reach the lows of the OT and the "highs" of the PT don't reach the highs of the OT. Nothing is perfect, but the prequels are more flawed in every way, and you refuse to actually post any reasoning and instead post the same thing over and over.

Of course. Flaws exist in anything. But the flaws of New Hope and Empire are of a completely different nature than those of the Prequel Trilogy. And a completely different scale. The Prequels were created in a poison environment in that Lucas surrounded himself with yes men instead of people who might have challenged him to strive to do better.

Don't be cruel. What reasoning is there for him to post?

What film do you consider to be "flawless" then?
