Wow, ToyGuru leaving pretty much confirms that both MOTUC and Matty Collector are deader than a doornail at this point. I'm still holding out hope that maybe we will see a new Teela and Evil-Lyn with the 2.0 body before the line officially ends.
To be fair, the little GL toys were no worse than any other Mattel movie product of that size, and like all retailers continue to do, they over-ordered heavily on the first wave to the point of preventing new product from being stocked. I think Scott being the snake-oil salesman that he is, could easily explain away his failings just as we explain away that MOTUC was a success despite it's massive list of failings. Side note, is that it's the retailers that need to find a way to remodel their approach to selling toys, but they'll never do since toys are just a loss-leader for them.
Looking forward to Galactic Protector She-ra. If only the actual New Adventures cartoon had the MOTUC story, I would have really enjoyed it.
Perhaps with the writing on the wall, they'll cut prices on some of the 'essentials' figures that have been peg warming on mattycollector. If not, maybe we'll get some more MOTUC at Big Lots. Either way, that could be a silver lining for customizers.
I actually liked the original NA "story" more than the Filmation one. Well, there really wasn't a filmation one. There was actually an NA episode where Skeletor wins and occupies the planet for a period of time before the Galactic Protectors win it back.
I don't think it's gotten to be that bad for MOTUC where "Essential" figures are going to drop in pcices or end up in Bg Lots. IF, and I mean a huge IF, that would happen, it would more likely be towards the 3rd quarter of 2015 as the line begins to truly wind-down. And even then, I think we're more likely to see a Mad-Matty sale than another Big Lots dump. NA Skeletor was awesome in that series. He was my favorite because of his quit wit, snarky remarks, and sometimes just being cunning and crazy. He played the Mutants to his advantage. And Filmation Skeletor did win as well a few times, such as when he banished He-Man to another dimension and wiping his memory, and when he made He-Man think he killed an innocent villager.
Yes he was. My only gripe is that the MOTUC figure is the form he had for something like 6 episodes, with the look he had for the other 50 some episodes being ignored because that's not the look non-fans of NA remember and were verbal about telling Scott they wanted.
And that is something I find disappointing as well. I like the new form he got which he had for most of the series. And I wouldn't mind it so much if he didn't turn out looking "fat" in the classic version.
Figured SDCC Hordak will be the closest we will ever get to Filmation so picked one up off Ebay today. I am really looking forward to him even if he is mainly just a repaint.
I wonder if this means Pixel Dan will no longer be getting any review samples of upcoming MOTUC figures with Scott resigning? He hasn't done any in a while now.
Been ORG-free for pretty much the entire month of October. Not sure what that actually means, but... let's face it. A few of the people there are okay, but a lot of them are just uncool. Not sure how else that can be rephrased...
He had a flood in his toy room recently, new kid and some family issues too. I hope we keep seeing his reviews, he was one of the reasons I got so into the line. Reviewing toys I had no interest in and winning me over...
It's because he got a bunch of figures all at once a while back and put out the reviews at the same time. There's been very little to review that hadn't been done already. He just put out the review on Tung Lashor. Shame about the lack of ankle tilts on the feet.
The vintage figure was a figure I always liked a lot. I always thought he was supposed to be a snake. He has teeth (frogs don't, heh) and a snake tongue. Plus, the snake symbol on his chest.
