Do you think we'll ever get a good Transformers movie without Michael Bay?

Barely connected. The McGuffin changes each time, the dead antagonist keeps coming back, and back, and back. The supporting cast (other autobots) disappears and is replaced by a whole new set of interchangeable cast members. More importantly, the characters don't really evolve between movies, since there's so little character development.

The Bayverse essentially reboots between movies. If you didn't see the previous movie, you really, really don't miss out on a single thing.

    Ebay:
    - Sam went from wanting no part of the Autobot fight in RotF to wanting to be a major player in DotM.
    - Optimus went from swearing to not harm any humans to wanting to kill Attinger in AoE.
    - Megatron was a huge threat in the first movie until he got beat down at the end of DotM, and then reborn in AoE...

The part you left out of the post you quoted demonstrated this is blatantly false.

You can't judge something that hasn't been created.

Some fans were against the 07 Movie being made, but ended up liking it.
So you can't say that a complete reboot wouldn't be successful.

Transformers will eventually reboot itself, so don't hold on to TF9 or Tf10 as general audiences will be bored by then. End of the day Paramount want that money.

Bay was the perfect director for TF1 because he got his start filming car commercials. *ahem*

But yes, the Marvel franchise has shown us (among many other things) that a successful franchise isn't dependent upon a single director.

    Correct, along with same formula.

As they say variety is the spice of life.

Marvel have just announced Civil War will be introduced which will also create the hype, RDJ is loved by many so you could say he is more iconic than Optimus Prime. DC have announced there line up for years to come. Infinity Gauntlet/Civil War/Guardians Of The Galaxy - Just too much going on compared to Transformers. The story arc is what will hype general audiences now, as special effects have become standard.

    Batman VS Superman.

If audiences had to choose in order what film they would want to see, TF would be 3rd. It's between Marvel and DC now for Summer blockbuster for many years to come.

True, however your over looking a large hitch in the statement.

When Marvel changes established backstory bits such as Bucky and Steve being best friends rather then hero/youthful sidekick or Banner becoming the hulk from a lab accident not an explosion, or even the line up of the first avengers team people accepted these changes and moved on.

TF fans however are still angsting because Prime's flames.

I just love how people think that when Michael Bay leaves Transformers, we'll get a director that will make a quote on quote good Transformers movie.

What happens if we get a new director and they make the Batman and Robin of Transformers movies? The Pluto Nash of Transformers movies? Oh, I know, what if they make the Gigli of Transformers movies?

At best, you'll get directors like the guy who directs the Fast and Furious movies, or the guy that just directed Ninja Turtles. Christopher Nolan or a similar filmmaker would not be interested in making a movie based on action figures.

Now, if Disney bought Hasbro and Hasbro brought the film rights with them . . .maybe.

Comic Book stuff already out box offices TF movies.

Avengers pulled in way more than any of the TF movies. Winter Soldier and Guardians both beat out AOE, domestically, as do all the Iron Mans. Same with the Nolan Batman movies and Man of Steel.

AOE did better in foreign markets than many of those, but return for the studio is generally a lot lower from foreign gross than domestic gross, because of the distribution partners' cut.

    Transformers is comic book stuff.

Guardians of the Galaxy and Winter Soldier already beat out AoE domestically. The writing's on the wall here, American audiences are souring on the Bayhem. Whether we cognize it or not, we go to the movies hoping to make an emotional connection, and no matter how much a movie has of what we think we want (IE explosions and bewbs), if it can't provide that connection, we're not gonna keep coming back.

What happens when the rest of the world starts feeling that same fatigue?

Don't forget the endorsements, also wasn't the numbers slightly inflated.

Exactly, in all media you try to relate, from music to films.

Hugh Jackman and Robert Downing Jr have immortalised themselves into those roles. Both guys and girls love them, that appeal isn't with Transformers as they don't write the characters the right way. Are the general audience bothered with what is going to happen next in Transformers? Or would they be more bothered to see how Tony Stark will challenge Capt America in civil war.

If the producers have any sense they should use the endorsement money to fund Unicron. Transformers needs an end game.

I hope Bay stays on. He has such a great visual style that fits the Transformers franchise. I dont want to see that go.

I don't mind Bay directing. What I do hate is the scripts. Too many flaws and poorly written characters. AOE was my least favorite out of the bunch.

It would be nice to get a new writer and director though. I would like to see a change.

Michael Bay has no idea how to tell a story or affect an audience in any resonant way. His movies and pervasive style are nothing but haphazard attempts at a "cool" affectation.

I don't think we've ever gotten a good movie with Michael Bay
