So I would safely assume that the Toa having a golden mask means their elemental power is in Nuva level?

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed that the masks hold the entirety of their powers... What was cool about the masks before was the special unique powers they gave on top of the elements...

Dude we've know this for a while.

Also, seriously? Self-censor on a supposed freakout? Kind of kills any sense of sincerity.

Yeah it's dumb. I wonder if someone misread the detail about how Toa could not harness their elements without a mask, and took it as the masks contained the elements.

Though I wonder if the Toa could concievably swap masks and swap powers, or if there's still some sort of locking each toa to an element.

Now I REALLY question what the point of Golden masks are. If it's simply a boost in power, that's such an immeasurable ill-defined worth to it. The old Gold masks were clearly a step-up as each contained all their previous mask powers in one. Now it's "he can hurl fire, and then hurl MORE fire?"

I knew this would happen as soon as they said masks held elemental powers. I thought "Oh no, the Toa's powers are going to come from the Masks, aren't they?"

Lo and behold, that is exactly what they did.

Someone seriously needs to clean up those bios. They look like they were copy-pasted from a sheet and not properly parsed. Each listed attribute directly leads into the other without puncuation, and it lists their primary colour. Which, y'know, if pointless since there's a picture there. Half the bio is one massive run-on sentence.

Also, Pohatu's makes me question my soul:
Okay, what are Jeterangs, and what the FUCK is a Stormarang?

Didn't they do something like this with the Toa of Light and Mask of Light?

Not really kinda, though that's never been my favourite thing OG Bionicle did.

Takanuva has his own elemental light powers. His mask has light powers, but it cannot enhance or be used in conjunction with his existing light powers. His elemental light is actual light, and can be focused into lasers or waves of light that harm shadow beings. His mask has some elemental light, but it's more aptly described as the mask of enlightenment, able to see the good in others, understand enemies, and other wishy-washy light-based concepts.

Same with the Mask of Shadow and Makuta. His mask has his powers except they can't be combined, and his esoteric masky BS is more like seeing corruption and understanding the dark parts of people to exploit them.

Basically the Avohkii and Kraakahn were pretty much useless most of the time in any real combat senario. These new masks give the wearer something they otherwise don't have, wheras those two masks are just mask-contained versions of their existing powers but with no ability to buff their existing powers.

Is it really necessary to say the proper name of the mask, I don't think there was any question what he meant by the Mask of Light.

Some of these attacks sound like video game moves, but I kind of want to see them IN a video game, like "Cleave Sprint." "Frost Sphere" sounds like an area effect spam move.

"Kaboom-erang" is the stupidest best thing ever. Pohatu would absolutely come up with that name.

IF I remember correctly, his weapons are called jeterangs when he holds them, and stormarangs when he's got them in his feet.

Also holy crap the demo/kopaka pic I found reached the reddit frontpage

Do we know if they've abandoned the old aspect where they all had to find their own colored versions of the other masks the other Toa were wearing?

Because if they didn't, then that would have to mean the masks grant bonus powers the other Toa can use that isn't elemental, and the masks are just each attributed to an element purely because of their default associated wearers?

The former's plural makes me think they're the default weapon forms of the boomerangs, and the latter being singular must be the combined form (I.E. like Kopaka's ski shield)

    Huh. Going off this pic

I'd think it would make more sense for them to be "jeterangs" when they're on his feet for presumably mobility enhancement, and in typical weapon form they're "stormarangs" as they can use the little fans in the middle to whip up sandstorms or something.

Great, now you've made Scottish, drunk Pohatu a thing.
