Oh for Primus' sake, how about we all just agree to let it go. We're all going to keep to our own theories. Let's all just agree to disagree and move on. We dont need yet another thread turning contentious over Swipe's fate. Everyone has their opinion, let's leave it at that. Thanks  

 

TFWiki is not Wikipedia. If you see it on TFWiki, nine times out of ten you can take it to the bank. A lot of dedicated fans strive to keep it knowledgable.

My guess is that it's not what he is, rather what can be done with him.

It is said in the movie itself all the others from previous movies are dead. Drift tells Prime they are all that is left, when they get a ship they are prepared to leave without any other autobots. Attinger says a handful of autobots remain which would be five just as was shown in aoe. Between the lines of the movie and the fate shown of Ratchet , and Leadfoot the point of the movie was to show the missing autobots were killed by cemetery wind. The original attack on Optimus was not shown on screen but obviously happened , maybe Sideswipe or other autobots were with him and killed when it happened

I believe that Sideswipe lives on inside all of us. His 6-and-a-half minutes of screen-time will not be easily forgotten.

 

What? I'm saying that there was literally nothing to Sideswipe other than his cool design. Nothing to miss about him, he was a prop who had slightly more screen time in DOTM, and still did nothing much besides share a fight scene with the soon-to-be-dead Ironhide.

 

The point is that what any of us thinks one way or the other doesn't matter, the writers are who decides what happens in the movies.

That's all I'm saying.

 

Sideswipe's "dead or alive" debate is a similar debate as "who is Cyclonus and did Brawn actually died in TF:TM 86". We don't know for sure since characters are known to make an appearance and then disappearing without explanation, see Jolt in ROTF

 

If he turns up in TF5 we'll know people.

However I would say that I would not include this as canon. Seems like everyone forgets how Bay said himself, "If you didn't see it happen in my movie, it didn't happen." Sure, we're assuming the others were killed if Ratchet and Leadfoot wasn't enough of a hint, but since we didn't see it, there's room for imagination.

 

There goes the coolest Autobot in the original trilogy.

 

Actually it would have been a pretty good scene to have actually SEEN that attack and have it involve a few of the remaining bots who die making sure Optimus gets away. It would have been a good end for characters like Sideswipe and Dino who were otherwise unaccounted for.

 

TF Wiki, a much more reliable source of information than Bay himself sometimes, considers those comics canon, and so do I.
