From what I heard, everything in the movie universe is canon, unless it contradicts the movies themselves, or a higher source. I'm not 100% sure though. Someone from TFWiki would probably know, they usually keep better track of what's canon.

On the other hand, this probably isn't very well known, I doubt it's even been approved by Michael Bay, so if they ever want to bring back Swipe, I think they could pretty easily.

 

yeah, he only had like 4 lines altogether and little personality besides "damn i'm good" which isn't alot to go on...

Officially speaking, this is likely much akin to Star Wars canon, where the films supersede the supplemental material like the miniseries and TV shows, which supersede the books, which supersede ...etc., etc. So until something with a higher canonical rating (so to speak) comes along? Sideswipe's dead. Oh well.

 

I'm laughing so hard right now. This just proves that just because they didn't die in the film, doesn't mean they somehow survived. Normally I'm actually of the stance that characters who don't die on screen can always come back, but let's be honest folks: Kruger doesn't plan on characters having that kind of a fake death.

yeah, all of them are dead. Roadbuster, Mirage, Sideswipe, Topspin are all gone. i dont think Ratchet and Leadfoot were the only ones CW killed, its likely all are dead. just because we didnt saw them die, doesnt mean it never happened. like in real life, just because we didnt saw some dude die, does it means it never happened?. of course not.

 

  first problem is this is on wiki. The second problem is it's 'supposedly' on some cards that nobody has seen. Lastly, like the comics, fan cards are not canon to the movies. To paraphrase Bay, "If you didn't SEE it happen in my movie, then it didn't happen."  

The pile of Transformers parts in the Attinger/Joyce tunnel scene is one of the failed Galvatron clones. They even point at it and call it a prototype, if there was any more doubt. We see no card with Swipe's (or Dino, Jolt, the twins,etc) picture on it. Attinger, who considers the Bots the same as Cons, said that there were "less than a dozen cons" unaccounted for. Point is we have no conclusive proof either way. I say, let sleeping dogs lay and let's all agree to disagree and let this particular topic go.  If Bay is back for T5, maybe we get absolute confirmation either way. If someone new takes over and reboots, all the guessing and theories end up kind of pointless anyway.

Except Skids and Mudflap. They're dead, Bay said they're dead, but they weren't killed in the film.

In order for your statement to be correct, that would mean Bay was lying, in which case he would be wrong about Skids and Mudflap dying in his own film...which means he's lying.

The only way Bay's statement, paraphrased or not, could be possibly true...is for the novelization, which is based on the script before he pulled the twins from the film due to the problems with their voice acting being recieved, to not depict them dying during Sentinel's betrayal at the NEST Base.

Except the book quite clearly has them dying with Ironhide.

Exactly. We didn't see him dying, but also didn't see him alive.

Everyone can think and believe anything they want about him. If you want to believe he's dead, that's okay; if you want to believe he's alive, that's okay too. People just can't try to impose their opinion upon another.

If you want to state why you believe he's alive or dead, you can, but be aware someone may want to and will counter you. Some people just aren't respectful for another's opinions, but I hope and believe most of the members here are.

So, like you, SunSwipe, said, we should let this topic go. Let Sideswipe rest, either if his spark is with the AllSpark or if his just drinking Energon hidden in Paris. But to me he's dead until I see him alive.
