My reaction when I saw the post come up on facebook was pure elation because all I saw was "30th anniversary new masterpiece megatron" in bold writing lol

Then naturally I read on and felt crushing disappointment as I realised It was just a reissue .. Now I'm Angry and sad and need ice cream to cheer me up

 

this release all but guarantees a new mold MP Megs right around the corner so cheer up! ...it might never happen

 

Gotcha. I hope that is the case. Megatron is second only to Soundwave in my book. Would love a new version!

 

What? No silencer and stock? Fail Kobayashi, fail.

 

Hopefully this figure won't be a gauge to see if a Megatron update is needed (Like the Neca TMNT line where April was used to gauge if there was enough interest to go ahead with Shredder and the Footsoldiers). I do give them credit for the creativity in this design, but I also do take away alot of points from the bot mode's look and its transformation issues. I just hope MP Megatron V.2 eventually gets released. If only Takara would take into mind Hegemon to see Megatron's popularity. Oh well...we..will..see

 

What makes people think this is a Takara reissue and not a Hasbro Asia reissue....from my understanding, Takara will reissue a figure usually within a year and that's usually just another factory run to meet demand. Hasbro Asia can reissue a figure years after its initial release and it's usually just a money grab/gouge. I don't remember spending $200 for MP-5 when it was initially released. This smells like a Hasbro Asia release, which is not indicative of a new MP Megatron v2. And BBTS claiming the orange plug will be installed by the factory further hints at a non-Takara release/reissue (Takara would never install an orange plug).

Edit: Just read BBTS' description on their page on how the orange plug will be an aftermarket install and that this figure will be metallic chrome with some other alterations.....so in that case, then it could very well be a Takara reissue.

 

Even if there is a V2 megatron in the pipeline , you can guarantee it'll transform into a crappy tank or jet as opposed to his true g1 form ....
This is where we need Fans Toys to step in and do the job right.

You seem to be forgetting MP01L - Last shot. Released in 2011 a whole 8 years after the big man was released. MP05 was released 7 (nearly 8 by the time it's out) years ago in 2007.

That's absurd, the TT's Masterpiece line is a loveletter to the G1 cartoon (mostly), and Megatron was a gun in that.

No, I haven't forgotten about MP-1L. In fairness, he included that display stand which made his release different than all the previous Convoy releases. I thought this MP-5 would be a straight up duplicate release, but now reading that it will be pimped up, then yes, most likely a Takara release.

I think we will see a silhouette by the summer! MP G1 Megs v 2.0 with Gun alt mode!

Did I read once that one of the designers wants to do an MP Triple changer?

 

Guess im the only one who is excited about this.
Even if he sucks, its still a big masterpiece level megatron and i missed him first time around and with nothing to display next to mp01 prime, I'll take him

 

If I want those to happen, then I'd expect either Astrotrain or Blitzwing to be the first Masterpiece Triple-Changer. Octane would be easy to picture in my mind, but Springer is a must.

this re-release of Megs is a waste of plastic, paint and diecast. whats next? a purple transparent variant to fit the movie sequence he turns into galvatron?

TT would be get rivers of money by releasing an ultimate Megs, in space with MP10, with a thousands of parts forming details to make sure it looks killer and BOLD in robot form.
