Yeah I'm definitely not saying everybody WANTS him, but you get why he's a thing.

As far as scale, I'm thinking it can be justified in terms of him mostly hanging out with Autobots and humans since All Hail Megatron. I'm also looking forward to how he looks with Megatron...who also hangs out with Autobots lately.

    I'm gonna wind up with a whole Defector/Rebel shelf aren't I?

Well they hang out on different planets so it's kind of whatever.

IDW Jetfire isn't really that much bigger than Screamer either, but the size classes must always yank us hither and yon.

Here's hoping that Megatron is shown this weekend. I didn't like the pic of him from SDCC and hope that newer pics will look better.

Don't get your hopes up, because from what I've heard, this is it. Aside from the RID panel.

Ho-leeeeeeeee BAAAWWWLLSSS!!!! I would have taken a Voyager class upgrade for the seekers. I would have preferred an Ultra. But a leader?! Thank you Hasbro! Beautiful remold.

I've liked most of third party combiners, but always hated the cost. Finally, good stuff from Hasbro!

Guys help I'm trying to stick only to Masterpiece and Generations Beast Wars figs but that Thundercracker is so tempting. Must... resist... must... save money... for textbooks :lol

Love the Huffer head sculpt, but I'm really disappointed in the choice of body repaint.

I don't see the need for a Thundercracker now in a 3rd scale, I don't read the IDW comics either though, in the IDW comics does Thundercracker grow?

I never viewed the Seekers as being larger transformers like I would Jet Fire. I think I would have rather another minor g1-machine wars character get a classics redo.

No, but he's a jet, so he's pretty freaking big to start with.

    Which is funny, because jet.

Like, I find it funny that people need rational for why a character who turns into a massive vehicle would have a larger toy. Jets are big. Bigger than cars. Bigger than trucks, actually.

Optimus looks a lot better in box than the stock photography... curious to see in-hand images.

I could do with a new Optimus Prime to add to the 5 or so different ones I have now.

I was thinking to skip the combiner wars figs, but they do look like a lot of fun...

Well, if you want to go with "scale", the seekers really ought to be some of the biggest characters (and Astrotrain should be, like, 3 times bigger than Starscream). But then it's all kind of skewed, because everyone says that despite scale, Optimus and Megatron should be taller than everyone else. So... yeah.

Anyways, some people really like jet transformers, so that's why there's a need for more of them. Especially big ones, because big toys are cool.

Interesting that Optimus' 'official' combiner mode is just the first wave of deluxes. Kind of takes thunder out of the idea that we'd get some Autobot car retools out of some Stunticons. I was mostly just wanting a Mirage. Perhaps we'll still get one somewhere.

Personally, I'm not that interested in leader seekers. Too expensive for a set that doesn't match anything in size, except maybe Masterpiece-scale, which has better seekers already. And while I like the Jetfire I have, it's not a good enough mold for me to warrant that re-purchase.

Hmm, Optimus transforms in 9 steps while his repaint Motormaster takes 10. :)

Also in the camp disappointed that Huffer got an Optimus retool. Would have really liked an original mold for him and Pipes, his little truck cab and transformation is a kind of unique one I'd have like to see with a more modern take. I'll probably still get him because it's the best Huffer we've had and are likely to have for some time. Poor guy just seems to get these poor-fit repaints.

RiD looks a little too kiddie for my collecting. Granted, I had reservations about Prime and AoE lines at first sight and ended up loving both, but my sense is I'll end up more stingy when it comes to picking any of these up. Of course, if they are simpler, they may end up being suitable for my will-be-five-year-old.

Combiners still look fun, though. I may end up lighter on my purchases next year. Of course, I thought that this year, too. Damn AoE with its cool dinobots and pretty good autobot cars.
