Hey gang, I have a question. I am looking at Ebay checking out subscription figure prices and have noticed that Circuit is kinda the lowest valued figure. I am a action masters fan but not a bayverse fan, is that the general feeling about this figure because the prices for other action masters based figures go for more.

Maybe this is a more general question, is it worth getting repainted bayverse "homages" or do you hold out for 20 more years till a actual Circuit comes out. I strictly collect the "classic" figures. So characters like ROTF bludgeon who are g1 characters but made into bay-verse figures do not work for me but I do like reading the opinions of others.

Guys like Bludgeon and Lockdown work with the aesthetic since they're supposed to be creepy-looking. The look doesn't work for Axer, Circuit, and Dirge, which is why I never bought them.

If Bludgeon doesn't work for you, then Circuit won't since a ton of people here think Bludgeon is Classics enough. Lugnut too.

Lugnut had the Classics aesthetic, though.

Some movie bots work better than others. I personally would say Circuit works fine, Bludgeon even more so. But ultimately, it's each person's own call.

The OP said it himself though - do you wait another 20 years for another homage or go with something "good enough"? It's a call we all make.

Is lugnut or lockdown G1 characters? Also is there a list of characters that are bay verse figures but are G1- machine wars Characters? Like Blugeon, Banzai-tron and Space Case or Axer?

Lugnut and Lockdown are G1 characters retroactively, due to insertion into modern fiction based in the G1-style continuity (IDW comics, for example), and their toys reflect that (ROTF Lockdown was used as the basis for Lockdown's appearance in Drift and More Than Meets the Eye, while Lugnut, based on his RTS design, has appeared in three different G1-based comics).

As for a list, I don't know where you would find one. Your best bet would be to look up the individual characters on TFWiki.

Personally, I mix a lot of figures released in the movie years in with my G1/Classics/Whatever you want to call it collection. Sea Spray, Deep Dive, Space Case, Lockdown, Hailstorm, Bludgeon, Banzaitron... the list goes on. I feel that, unless something is explicitly following the Movie design aesthetic (like almost all of the on-screen characters and a number of the first movie's off-screeners), there's enough wiggle room to allow some cross-pollination. Hell, we've gotten Classics-style toys as Movie characters (Walmart's entire exclusive assortment from the first movie line, as well as the recent Skids redeco as Rollbar), so I don't see the problem. If you're a purist and like to keep your collection more structured than that, cool. I'm just not as rigid (though Animated and, to a lesser extent, Prime toys don't intermingle due to the more stylized aesthetics).

I think Circuit/Axer still work fine in a Classics collection. They were always an oddball design, now they're just oddball in a different way. Since they don't look quite full-on "Movie"-style, I buy them as a middle-ground hybrid design that you could display with either collection based on preference.

I've come to the conclusion that Lockdown is much, much too movie-inspired to be a "Classics" character now. Bludgeon works due to the theme of the character. Here, the movie aesthetic actually works in the character's benefit, being a spooky scary skeleton in a samurai get up and what not.

Not Lockdown however...the skeletal appearance and reverse joint legs really kill it.

As such, I couldn't have Circuit as a Classics character. It's the main reason why I never cared for it.

I agree to some extent, specifically about the Digitigrade-style legs, which is why I leave them folded up within his lower legs when displayed with other specifically G1-style characters (much like his IDW art does), and extend them out for display with Movieverse characters. As for his skeletal design, I figured that, harkening back to the Animated character, it made it easier for him to swap around body mods/weapons to his liking.

My opinion about it is that I feel he might look more bulky and sort of patchwork. Why would he **NEED** to be skeletal for ease of modification? If he was more full looking like the animated counterpart I think it would work better for Classics.

Same reason Construct-Bots are skeletal - to pop on and off custom parts as desired :lol

But seriously, agree that he would look better with a bit more heft. I'm just giving my personal opinion on the matter.

It depends on if the movie styled body is able to fit in style wise enough for it to work on a Classics shelf. Like some said here toys like HFTD Seas pray and ROTF Bludgeon work well enough for it. As for ROTF Lockdown while it's true that the way he looks in IDw is movie inspired he still has a lot of movie elements on him that doesn't make him fit as well. So it makes me wonder if someday Hasbro will do a Generations Lockdown figure that has elements of both his TFA and AOE designs and characteristics but done in a more updated G1 style. Like how they did in a similar manner with Lugnut.
