They're kind of not what I want. I want so much more from them, but I'm satisfied with what we have now. They're not horrible, terrible, abysmal, or any other synonym movies like people make them out to be. They're good. Moderately good. It's difficult to explain for me personally. Regardless, just know that I love them.

They're bad movies. All of them. Poor characters and writing abound.

I have only really enjoyed the first TF movie. The second one had some ok parts, but the third I didnt care for(and dont remember most of it anymore either). I just watched the fourth one, AOE, and honestly the story alone killed it for me. I felt the whole movie nothing was really explained well and nothing really came together. Also, I felt the revealing of the dinobots could of been alot better and like others have said the humor has gotten worse. I do give props to mark wahlberg for his effort in it, but I found that I just wanted the movie to end after it was half way through. Im normally a pretty optimistic guy when it comes to these things with little expectations, but the last two I just couldnt enjoy that much...with that said I could watch all these movies again except AOE.

    They're incredible lazy films.

I could live with them being bad, if the director and producers showed signs of trying harder. Failing because you shot for the moon is excusable.

But the TF movies are filled with so many lazy mistakes, particularly in the story and plotting, that it's painful. It has nothing to do with being transformers in particular-- it's just bad filmmaking, in general.

At this point, I think Bay pretty has no respect for the audience. Based on how much these movies rake in, despite the laziness, I can't blame him.

I don't consider the 2007 movie, Dark of the Moon, or Age of Extinction "bad" per Se. Though I still have an overall negative opinion of Revenge of the Fallen (For many reasons)

The '07 Movie gave us the first Live-action with CG Interpretation of our favorite transforming Robots on the Big Screen, and While it set into motion the "Mute Bumblebee Trope" we hate seven years later, it did bring us an at least partially believable teenage protagonist in the form of Sam Witwicky (as played by Shia LaBoef), something Transformers hadn't had since George HW Bush was in Office.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen came along and it gave us:
*A Devastator that was more true to his origins than namesake from the previous movie, but nonetheless an utter letdown when it came to his reveal 3/4s of the way through the film
*Two Autobots with "Gangster" appeal (Of whom, one is voiced by Spongebob Squarepants) and vocabularies fouler than that of the South Park kids.
*The second most Short-lived "Death" of Optimus Prime to date (And the most unnecessary)
*A titular antagonist who embarasses himself in the only amount of combat in which he partakes in the movie
*Mute Bee take two (even though Bee was talking by the end of the first movie *grumble Grumble*)
*More not-quite-porn shots of Megan Fox
*The return of Shia LaBoef (Fresh from shitting on the set of Indiana Jones 4) as our favorite no-longer-teen human protagonist
    *An Obscene overabundance of explosions
*Judy Witwicky getting high off her ass from some Loaded brownies
*Shia LaBoef scribbling crap all over everything
*A Decepticon whose altmode is a human (Nope, don't bother touching that awesome concept again)
*Magic dust that can reanimate dead Transformers
*Seymore Simmons (We thought his first name was "Agent") in a Sector-Seven Speedo
*A Wheelie that doesn't rhyme... or use his signature color scheme... and is more akin to the other character his voice actor voices in this film than Wheelie.
*The Resurrection of Megatron (and not as Galvatron)
*Soundwave showing up to rape a satellite
*Ravage showing up to do Ravage-ey stuff and get killed
*Scorponok showing up to get killed
*A legion of nameless Decepticons (And Constructicons) showing up to get killed

Two years later we were treated to Transformers: Dark of the Moon
    *Bumblebee was still Mute
*Megan Fox was replaced was replaced by the decidedly hotter Rosie Huntington-Whitely with no explanation given to her absence.
*Skids and Mudflap were gone, Replaced by Wheelie and Brains (And voiced by the same two men, respectively)
*Megatron returned from his well-deserved ass-beating at the end of the last movie scarred to receive an undeserved beheading after getting a much-deserved tongue lashing from a Victoria's Secret runway model (Megs doesn't do anything hostile in Dark of the Moon aside from blow up the Lincoln statue in the Lincoln memorial)
*Shockwave showed up to stand around and look scary with his massive metal Sand worm in tow
*Barricade showed back up to kill hosta-er, Trophies.
*Wheelja- I mean Q (Or is it Que? Queue?) Shows up to give Ja- I mean the Humans some useful shit before getting killed
*Bumblebee is almost killed (In the most dramatic way possible)
    *Tyrese earned himself another paycheck
    *The 'Cons took over Chicago
*Soundwave became an Import Luxury Vehicle *Still with tentacles*
*Laserbeak showed up to do Ravage-ey things, make Ken Jeong say a Cool One-liner and Teleport
*Sentinel Prime showed up to do an evil plan he totes didn't steal from the original cartoon, honest.
*Ironhide Showed up to be a badass for one scene and get dusted by grumpy Sentinel Prime
*More nameless Decepticons showed up to get killed
*Starscream showed up to get killed by Shia LaBoef by accident
*The Wreckers (Finally) Show up to kick ass, Chew Bubblegum, and be assholes
*It is revealed that there were secrets even Sector Seven wasn't Privy to.
*John Turturro and John Malkovich try to out John Malkovich each other
*Alan Tudyk showed up to emulate former Firefly costar Summer Glau
*Sideswipe Showed back up to be a badass
*Ron and Judy Witwicky show up to be good characters for the first time in this entire series

Cut to earlier this year and We got Transformers: Age of Extinction
*Shia is replaced by better actor Mark Wahlberg (who isn't playing a character he's already played twelve times before, Surprisingly enough)
*Most of the Autobots from the previous three films are established to either be dead by Lockdown's hand or in hiding
*Bumblebee's back and, guess what, he's still talking through his radio (and stealing voice clips from Hound)
*Rosie Huntington-Whitely is gone (oh....) and replaced by Nicola Peltz (Eh, a little young for me, but I'd still tap it)
*Wheelie is gone and Brains has a role that amounts to him spouting exposition and walking off the scene
*Comic Relief is (briefly) delegated to Hud from Cloverfield... then he gets turned into a statue and Hound Takes over with all the wit, humor and voice of Walter Sobcheck from The Big LeBowski.
*Movie's Badass is delegated to the Triple-changing Samurai Drift as voiced by Ken Watanabe (Fresh from the few scenes he's in Godzilla)
*Megatron Returns (this time as Galvatron, fucking finally) and is invincible (Thanks, Stanley Tucci!)
*Lockdown Shows up to be more Lockdown-ey than ever before and spout surprise exposition
    *Bumblebee is given a rival
*Shockwave shows back up as a two-headed vehicon
*The Dinobots show up to be a smidgen less Dinobot-ey than ever, but still as awesome as ever
*Kelsey Grammer shows up as Harold Attinger, a CIA dude who didn't like all the damage the transformers left in the wake of the Battle of Chicago five years earlier, so he set up his own club without blackjack or hookers to kill Transformers
*John DiMaggio shows up to forget what character he's voicing and makes the former TargetMaster, Crosshairs sound like the deceased Target Race Car, Leadfoot (I respect John DiMaggio as a Voice Actor, but his Vocal range is varied enough, he could have made Crosshairs and Leadfoot sound different)
*Tyrese does not show up to earn that Paycheck. Jack Reynor does, but he can't seem to figure out what accent to do from scene-to-scene.

In terms of quality, it depends on which movie you are talking about. Many think the first one was of good quality and that it goes down in quality from there. I'm the complete opposite. I think the first two are the weak links even if they have aspects I enjoy, but DOTM and especially AOE are much better. AOE is actually my favorite film in a long time.

As for what I want, I kind of want things to be different from what I would do if that makes sense. Had I planned TF 4 I would not have picked Lockdown as the main villain or Crosshairs and Drift as new Autobots, but looking back boy am I glad they were in it.

Kudos to BadGuyWins for liking The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly. My all time favorite.

this is a subjective question. It's both to me - not what i want from a TF film but also not a good film IMO.

There are some things I dig with the movies, and there are some things I absolutely loathe. Overall, I wish that the Transformer films had been done with the same caliber that the Marvel Comic films (with the exception of that HORRID 1st Wolverine movie)had been done. Though I respect Peter Cullen's iconic contribution to this franchise, I respectfully dissent and feel it is time for Bay & Krueger to move on and let someone else handle it.

At the end of the day:
    A)I have my collection of previous TF lore;
B)I create my own characters using my artistic abilities,
    And
C)I create my own stories- if I have energy to complain then I also have energy to counter what I don't like with the established franchise, and create what I want to see.

I really liked the first one. It gave a background and history, almost an origin of the Transformers in the form of the Cube. It also helped to bring the brand back, even if in ways not everyone appreciated, still it pumped new life into Transformers lore. It enabled Hasbro to go forward with new toys, new fiction.
The second one I felt strayed some from the first. Tried too hard to be humorous and wound up being humorless. No mention of the Cube and now we find out Transformers had been here thousands of years before. It also took what was supposed to be the baddest of the bad in Megatron and turned him into someone else's bitch.
The third one took the mentor of Optimus, some being that he would have emulated himself after and turned him into a complete douche. I can see certain characters doing that kind of shift, but not a Prime. I felt the movie was drawn out, overly complicated, poorly explained.
Now we come to Transformers IV.
    What the fuck?
I felt like they completely ignored anything that may have happened previously as far as origins, history, development. Let's turn Optimus into a crazed homicidal maniac, willing to not protect but even kill humans. Let's allude to the creators of the Transformers wanting their property back. All of a sudden, Optimus has history as a Knight of Cybertron. I watched it twice, in hopes it would grow on me. Nope. Hate it. I now have no hope or anticipation for TF5 unless the opening scene is Sam waking up and thinking "What a weird dream!"

I think Bay Humor and Bay sex got the best of ROTF and DOTM, AOE starting to tone it down to how it was in the first movie.

If Bay could just restrain his cheeky side making movies 2 and 3, the franchise would have been a lot more bearable.

I liked the stories they were going with, hell, if it weren't for the Bay Humor, i'd have liked the humans.

I think the films are bad. I even like two of them but I think they are bad. Even if it all comes down to personal opinion, they're bad for not fitting what many, many people think is good. Yes, there are countless times more people who enjoy them but so many films manage to make a good chunk of that extra group happy, that there is no excuse for these films.

Frankly, they're just not how I would envision the franchise. Not to mention I think the acting at times is not really up to par.

the human actors...yeah they're rather strange,

robot voice acting is great though provided what they have to say isn't gibberish.

I really enjoyed the first three films. But I watched AOE for the first time yesterday and I was extremely disappointed. The autobot transformations still have some essence of "convincing" transformations. However the Decepticon's "particle-morphing" was a joke. If I wanted to see sloppy transformations; I would have put in Transmorphers or some other parody film. The entire story and plot felt out of place even for a Bay movie. I honestly think AOE was much worse than ROTF.

That's what I mean: they had a chance to show how people would really react to these robots coming to earth, and they act really weird.

I don't buy the entry ticket expecting to see The Godfather, I go in expecting to see big robot fights and explosions with dialogue in between all that. I thought the first one was fun. Also thought ROTF was also fun, albeit a little long-winded.

DOTM was, IMO, total FAIL-bot. I have no desire to rewatch it - was total crap.

Haven't seen AOE, but plan to purchase it.

Are these movies exactly what I want?

Not really, but at the same time, I'm not looking for perfection. I'm also not investing any personal emotions into wants and needs over a movie about transforming robots. I'm looking for entertainment. If I'm entertained, then great. If not, then I don't have to buy or rewatch what I don't like.

One hopes choosing the former would automatically imply the latter, though the latter could stand alone.

Hence I choose the former and the latter, though correlation does not equate causation. ;)

I really wish these films were more character driven. I'll commend AoE for at least giving the characters more personality. Still, I'd like a story to revolve around the characters more and a little less around a plot device. The flip side of this would be to get rid of dumb, pointless characters (Shane, Leo, etc). The pacing has also been terrible for the last 3. I'd like to see unnecessary scenes edited out of the final cut (this would have made AOE infinitely better). To extend on that, the scripts should be tightened up a bit. Age of Extinction had some pretty interesting and compelling plot points. However, those threads weren't executed very well.

For me, both. While I liked the 4th one comparatively speaking to the other three (which I can barely even acknowledge exist thanks to how brutally bottom-of-the-barrel terrible they are), I am still patiently waiting for (what I consider) a proper Transformers movie. I realize there are many people can't, don't or won't agree or understand that, but it's still my view nonetheless. Unlike many, I'm not a fan of nor condone the "well since it simply exists, it must be okay/good/acceptable/etc." and/or "well at least we got something" mindset. And I'm actually proud to have not buckled yet, 4 movies and 7 years later. :)
