Arcee is my #1 favorite Autobot! I'm one of the biggest Arcee fans out there. I've been going crazy since 86 wanting an official Arcee toy. And now Hasbro FINALLY makes her. And it's a total disappointment. It just isn't that good. I really want to be going crazy over this one above all others but it just ain't that great. 1. Horrible looking black especially around her collar/neck. 2. Half a car hanging off her back. WTF??? 3. Plain no detail face. 4. Crappy KO looking paint job. I've been waiting years & this just ain't doing it for me. Delicate Warrior is way better than this. I'll get her just because it's a new version of Arcee but I'm not excited for her at all anymore. Major disappointment here! And I'm not usually as fussy as others.
Okay, I'm ready to give my full thoughts. I think it's fair of me to say I'm not boarding the hype train for this figure and I've found my reasoning behind this. It isn't that it caters to the cartoon design rather than the video games or comics. No. Instead, its the backpack. Now, having a large backpack isn't the sole problem but rather a piece of evidence to believe that this figure will have a lackluster transformation. To parphrase TJOmega on what a transformer ideally is - "It's a cool vehicle/animal, a robot, and a puzzle". Seeing the backpack on Arcee here doesn't make me believe she has a fun transformation. She'll bend her legs (oh my), flip her top up (OH MY), before proceeding to cover her backside with the backpack (aw...). The vehicle mode is nice, but Thunderblast had a nice boat mode and she had the worst case of shell-forming ever seen. But what really seems to be the real kick is that there is already a G1 styled Arcee, made by Hasbro, that had a fun transformation and came with swords. Deluxe Animated Arcee. That figure had a simple yet fun transformation between car and robot mode. Even though it has a few faults of ignoring screen accuracy, it doesn't bring the figure down. It works a fine balance with show-accuracy and engineering. Generations Arcee, on the other hand, sacrifices engineering for accuracy which (for me) brings the quality down a notch. All in all, I don't think this is a bad figure but I don't think it's going to be a great transformer from viewing these images. If anything, it's slightly sub-par. A 2.6 out of 5. Before I go I want to say I not here to try and discourage people from buying this thing just because of my preferences and thoughts. I'm just saying that, in my personal opinion, this thing doesn't live up to the G1 Arcee I expected/hoped.
I think you're being unreasonably harsh here. 1. The black collar, while not exactly G1 accurate, is trivial at best. 2. The half car backpack is esthetically acceptable considering if any of the car itself went into the transformation we wouldn't get the soft, round, kibble free feminine curves the bot mode boasts. 3. The face is one of the best things about her! In going for a full G1 look, I feel it captures the tenderness and femininity worthy of a character whose main role seemed to be being a nanny for a 10 year old boy throughout the third season. As well as a coyful flirt to Springer. 4. This I can agree on, but this gripe can be accurate for pretty much every Hasbro TF. But seeing as how her color scheme wasn't that dynamic to begin with, it's more than forgivable.
Wouldn't you want to wait until you saw in person? This can be a huge factor for me with Tfs. There's only so much photo and video reviews can do.
Not a fan of some of the the black bits but for the most part its exactly what I've wanted since I was a kid and I cant wait to get her maybe even more than once. Also I love Thunderblast she gets beat up so much for doing something many other Transformers did before her and have done after.
Apparently Hasbro/Takara, with the way some the comments are on here, you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. As for me, I'm getting this version and I couldn't be happier.
I'm snagging her soon as I see her. First thing I'm going to do though, is paint the inside of the backpack a gray or black so that her robot body stands out more (and helps the backpack to sort of disappear). Simple fix, but I think it'll do wonders. I'd love to see what some of the heavy customizers on these forums can do about the backpack. Way beyond my skill set, but I bet someone out there can make it transform away.
I wonder if we'll Nightbird out of this (probably a damned TFCC subscription figure in two years). Funny how this is essentially Hasbro/TT taking a 3rd party design, upsizing and (modestly) improving it.
nah, just the gals and Bumblebee i would not mind owning them, but they are not in my want list (cant even see the appeal on those u mentioned), the only TF's in my want list this year are the AOE guys and the Femgots, i dont really have any interest in the regular gens line, the only figs i want from the Gens line (aside from the AOE Gens stuff) are just the Gals and Bumblebee
I honestly think the only aspect of the mold I'm not liking are the legs. Huge hips/thighs, and thin to tiny calves/ankles. She just looks... unfit. She must have gotten a desk job since Animated.
Not sure why people are surprised by the large backpack, there was no way to make a G1 Arcee without it. I loved the iGear Arcee from a few years ago, but it's not worth the $120 or whatever price people are probably still asking for it. This one isn't perfect, but it's more than worth the $15 price.
Give me this in black with a new head sculpt. THEN I will get it. Good mold, just not enough paint/detail from the pictures I see.
I don't really like how her thighs are so thick, yet her lower legs so very, very thin. But I'm sure I'll get used to that. Other than that, looks like Arcee to me, so cool. Secretly like her earlier IDW look better, but it's of no concern to me. Looks nice, have it preordered, would gladly add her to my collection! Sooo...you want a mold that's clearly Arcee repainted/remolded into a black nondescript something...? Why?
