Here is a thread devoted to the currently nonexistent transformers AOE deluxe stinger. I decided to make it because I needed somewhere to vent and to speculate on why this guy hasn't been made yet. I had a rather interesting thought, what if something fell through with Chevrolet and hasbro decided to release a repaint of crosshairs instead of a repaint/remold of bumblebee? I base this on early listings that included a deluxe stinger but said nothing about hot shot.
What if he turned out to an actual good deluxe? You know, something like a deluxe from ROTF, not the shitstain what was AOE's line. That'd be nice.
Looking at takara's AD-31 and seeing as they still haven't revealed AD-18 or AD-19 I still have hope that this guys coming at some point.
^ I don't think AD-18 and AD-19 will be a Deluxe Stinger since the Con will be a Voyager and the Bot will be a Deluxe (supposedly).
Why join someone else's when you can start your own? In all honesty I didn't know of any others and I didn't really feel like looking at the time I started this thread.
Reshells aren't that simple. Especially considering the two cars are so different in design. Also, a reshell would require cutting so many new molds that it would be just more cost effective to design a new toy.
I remember hearing a testimonial from someone on this board where they asked Hasbro why there wasn't a deluxe stinger and the just said that it was because they didn't think about making one.
... ...they basically pushed it as a rival to Bumblebee, showed it off in the film, and even named him when outside of Galvatron none of the others got names. And yet they didn't think to use that for toy-making purposes? They do remember how this fandom works when it comes to media right?
That, and there was a deluxe stinger on the leaked hasbro list that has not been wrong until this point, and on a takara product solicitation.
I don't find that surprising. Stinger's sole notable scene was being the butt of a Bumblebee joke. He's a glorified robot red shirt.
It's also possible given how much Stinger factored into Walmart exclusives, WM might have asked for him as an exclusive (like deluxe DotM Optimus Prime), then backed out at the last minute (as they've done before) If that is the scenario, Hasbro would be screwed as it would be highly unlikely they could just "reslot" him into the regular assortment in time for the holiday shipouts, especially since it seems likely AoE won't last beyond the holiday season anyway.
If that's the case, there's always the option of making him a Platinum release via Amazon and BBTS. But seems they already wasted that option seeing how they used the ROTF Deluxe Sideswipe/Swerve mold in red instead (whom was believed to be Stinger at first).
I just hope that he's made at some point, takara's recent entries in the movie advanced line do give me hope that it will be sooner rather than later (ie AD-31 Optimus prime retool).
