Much better in distribution and character selection than DOTM...but nothing really stood out.

Having watched reviews of everything, I only really like LDR Prime and evasion Prime.

The fact that hasbro released 16 or so movie moulds in generally meh colours, then repainted 15 of them in better movie accurate colours in giftsets is a d!ck move no matter how you look at it, especially since it's within the same year.

Only figures that are not repainted into something better/more show accurate are Galvatron, Slash, Drift helicopter and vintage Bumblebee. -EVERYTHING- else got a more screen accurate repaint out or coming up.

I'd say they were all about average, actually. Of the figures I've purchased, none were really bad...but there also weren't any that were really good either. As a line, AoE Generations was just sort of 'there'.

While I like this line for the traditional sizes, Deluxe, Voyager etc. I felt that to much kibble clogs the shelves such as the 1 steps, Flip Changers, and Power Attackers. Despite them not in the film would of loved for them to do away with those and make the figures that never got released such as DOTM Soundwave, Soundblaster, Que (Wheeljack) or even the Takara Lost Age line like Dino (Mirage)

Eh, come to think of it, even if this does include the platinum sets, my opinion isn't set in stone yet so I may as well post my thought but not vote.

The general retail toys are pretty much terrible. There are almost no good molds. They all range from mediocre to downright terrible. Add a lack of paint detailing and some goofy colours and you end up with a pretty bad line. Then as if the low quality didn't turn me off enough, the line only has two villain toys. I'd add in how short the line is except it's so bad, it's probably better that they get it out of the way as quick as possible.

Hound, Scorn and Strafe are the only figures of the line that look any good. I would also have gotten Grimlock to go with the much better looking Scorn and Strafe just to have a Dinobot team but the announcement of the Platinum line stopped me from buying him (and Hound). I guess new Camaro Bee and Snarl look half decent but I doubt I would have bought them. The massively praised EM Optimus looks like a good mold but he is way too under painted for me to buy him.

For ages now, the fandom has been debating if Hasbro is justified in cutting costs and raising prices but whether they're justified or not, there's only so far you can take this before the figures end up being downright terrible. IMO, AOE has taken things that far. Even if these toys were being given away, I still wouldn't want them. Although, yes, the blame is also partly on how ridiculous the movie designs have gotten in AOE.

The Platinum line is the only hope for AOE. The Autobots United set looks great and the Breakout battle looks good too. The Dinobot five pack has potential but I'll wait until we get in hand pics before I make my final judgment. However, while the Platinum line does not look so bad that I wouldn't take them for free, I still won't buy them if they're too ridiculously priced. Also, I understand many people's complaints about how they seem to be online exclusives in the USA but as someone who isn't willing to pay the prices my country is asking, I'll take that over them being exclusive to a retailer that won't ship to another continent or won't at a reasonable price. Also, releasing better painted versions after many people have bought the under painted versions is a shitty move but I have a hard time feeling sorry for anyone who was willing to pay money for the AOE general retail toys.

I'd say that it's a solid line despite some flaws. Figures like Evasion mode Optimus Prime along with the Dinobots are pretty spot on to how they look in the movie mold wise.

Also I don't see how the line is considered by some fans as a horrible line and a slap in the face. Yes it's flawed but there isn't anything about the line that deserves the title of a bad line.

Like people complained about the Dinobots being not in scale well most of the characters like Blackout in the past lines weren't either so no the Dinobots aren't the first to do so. Also they say that the Dinobots aren't coloured accurately. Actually in the movie Scorn and Strafe have tints of their toy colours thrown in so it's not like they're that off. Also even if they were coloured like they were in the movie then we'd have some people going "Ugh they're coloured in such a boring and bland colour typical of the movies!" Either way there's never going to please everyone. Not to mention some of the character designs like Western Star Optimus and Galvatron don't translate well into a transforming toy so they had to work with what they got and while they still have issues they could have ended up a lot worse.

I snagged Drift and Crosshairs when I realized that the Platinum Autobots Unite boxed set is too overpriced for negligible paint apps. They're much better figures than I gave them credit for, and I'm actually liking the way the the new Bumblebee is looking.

I have a handful of figures and I think what I got is pretty good. All in all AoE, as a toy line is short and sweet..there's a lot more good than there is bad.

What I'd really consider bad is really just Slog, Slash, and Lockdown. Everything else is just stuff that are pretty okay but I have no interest in getting.

Here Hasbro, I'll take his word for it. take my money. give me those toys, NOW!
^^that was me when the movie toys came out.

You have no idea how much I like movie toys.... they are way better and more "intricate" than most figures I see these day. So I say here. I've heard enough.

I like what I have well enough in the Generations line. I haven't really regretted any purchases except Lockdown, which I think is mostly brought down by his insane design and character and is an okay toy in its own right. Curling arms aren't much of a problem for the Dinobots because I'm gonna keep them in Dino mode anyway. The only thing bringing me down is the lack of a Trax and Stinger for the Generations portion.

I don't know if any movie line could ever top ROTF.

But AOE was pretty good, and much better than DOTM. Evasion Prime is a standout among movie Primes. Hound is a gun-laden badass. Drift is an interesting carformer. Mother. Fucking. DINOBOTS. Seriously, the Dinobots alone make this line way more immediately interesting than any previous movie line.

There was The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

I have almost the entire AOE line- up. Only one I didn't buy was Galvatron (tho I may eventually get him).

HO Bee- Got him soley to display him in car mode.

Revenge Optimus- I like how he looks

Drift- I bought 3. I have Takara's Bugatti Drift, A Custom Painted Bugatti Drift and AD30 Helicopter Drift is on his way. The custom paint is my favorite.

Crosshairs- I have 3 of him, too. I have Hasbro Crosshairs, Takara Crosshairs and a Custom Painted Crosshairs. The custom painted is my favorite.

Battle Blades Bee- Not my favorite Bee, but he's ok.

Lockdown and Hound haven't arrived yet, neither has AD27 Bee

Scorn- He's just all kinds of awesome

Strafe- Looks good buy WAY too small

Slug- He's ok, I don't care for the color of his bottom jaw.

Black Knight Grimlock hasn't arrived yet

Stinger is coming with my preordered bluray

Black Knight Scorn isn't out until November

We're all STILL waiting for BBTS to FINALLY post the preorders for the four Platinum Edition Sets

LA Dino- It's Dino, enough said

LA Jolt- Really like this guy

LA Soundwave- Not the greatest Wave in the world, but I finally have him

    Slash- Hasn't arrived yet

    Slog- Hasn't arrived yet

    Snarl-Hasn't arrived yet

AD19- Who the hell knows if this thing will ever come to fruition

AOE First Edition Prime- I call him Optimus Chrome

I don't know if they count, but the Gen 4 Pack. Crosscut and Nightbeat are easily my favorites. Windblade is quite nice. Jhixaus is Holy Blazing Orange!

I didn't buy the rainbow colored Dinobots (SDCC)

My biggest complaints about this line: WAY too damn small and lack luster paint apps

Simplified gimmicks aside, I think the toyline is objectively good.
I'm very, very disappointed in the lack of villains, the severely underwhelming representation of Lockdown (still not a bad toy though), poor options for Western Star Prime, and certain paint jobs (off the top of my head, Evasion Prime and Crosshairs), but I am happy with what we did get.

We're missing primary characters in the line that appeared in the movie, which is disappointing to say the least:

    -Voyager Western Star Optimus
-Triple Changer Drift (I don't care if it sucks, still inaccurate to have Drift as two separate figures)
    -Stinger

I was happy to support new Dinobot toys. IMO none of them are phenomenal but none of them areal at out garbage either.

Hound was good and Galvatron was surprisingly good too despite a lackluster transformation. I think Drift is decent too.

New Bumblebee isn't bad but it's hard not to compare it to the original 2007, Battle Blades and DoTM toys, which makes it look terrible. Crosshairs suffered from trying to put a trench coat on the toy.

Lockdown was incredibly disappointing all around.

I can't wrap my head around why Evasion Optimus us so popular beyond the G1 alt mode. I've had it in hand several times but it looks so horrible I've never brought myself to buy it. I didn't bother with leader Optimus or First Edition Optimus since they look even worse than Evasion Optimus.

The biggest negative for me when it comes to the toys is the lack of Decepticons. Stinger not getting a Generations representation was sheer idiocy on Hasbro's part given how prominently he was featured in promotional material. Only two Decepticons in any line, movie or not, is absolutely pathetic.

That wraps up the toys for me. As for how the line was HANDLED, personally I think it was a huge flop. I don't care that the kiddie toys exist. I don't need to buy them. But it seems to me that having such a vast majority of the toy line being non transform able or simple toys cut out a large demographic. It wasn't THAT hard to pick out the simplified stuff from the Generations line if you knew what you were looking for but the unified packaging just didn't work. It didn't help the packaging was incredibly boring and bland to begin with. I'm no expert and I know Hasbro does the research. But I really don't see their strategy paying off for them with this movie line. Not every area is the same but it seems like my area was part of the norm; kiddie stuff didn't move and the Generations deluxe toys sold reasonably well but not remarkably, with the first wave Voyagers and Leaders collecting dust.

Personally I hope we see a different strategy in the future.

Even tho overall AOE figures were pretty nice looking I have yet to buy any of the main Autobots or Decepticons for the sheer fact that I went wayyyyyyyyyy overboard in buying figures from the past 3 movies,I probably have or had close to 300 figures like 2007 Leader Optimus,2007 Premium Leader Optimus, and a lot more where that came from,so my answer would be yes the good did outweigh the bad but I learned that even tho something looks good doesn't mean you should buy it.

But as for my first statement I will say that is true, but I did end up buying all of the Deluxe Dinobots except Slash (which reminds me of a mutant parakeet) which did look like a**, I also got Voyager Grimlock, and am still looking for Slog and Snarl to complete the set but haven't found them yet.

In my opinion Aoe has the worst transformers toys yet . Rotf was godsent- leader classes were damn good , all classes were good , transformation was complex , plastic quality was superior, no scrimping of plastic . Even legends class was amazing.
Dotm , rather poor voyager prime but impressive leader class except for bumbledung
AOE- all the ills of transformers we have cheap designs comparable to knock offs
Shellformer #1 - Galvatron- heck why is he even voyager class,he should be a movie replica figure, his transformation is like NEGLIGIBLE,hiding in his truck case what a joke
Shellformer #2 - leader class optimus primes, first edition and rerelease.open the the top of the truck to reveal his entire upper body
Partsformer - leader class grimlock, kind of dissapointing that his entire tail and rear is a detachable weapon
Recycled designs #1- voyager drift, skyhammer mold may look good according to individual opinion but it deviates from the cgi or movie helicopter seen. Drift is supposed to be shorter. No triple changer as well.
Recycled designs #2 -leader class bumblee, exact same mold with no reference to aoe cgi , and lacking in LED, and poorer paintjob. JUNK
Fake body parts #1 - evasion mode prime, good looking mold but the fake chest is kinda of bugging me..why use the fake if you have a real one...still,at least its not a direct copy of g1 mold..So not going too harsh on this point
Fake body parts #2 - scorn ,fake jaws on waist, annoying dino head on right hand
Fake body parts #3- Leader class grimlock fake dino jaws on elbows, disapointing
    Additional points
    1. Plastic quality deproved
    2. Figures shrunk
    3. Price increased
    4. No more lights and sounds in leader class.
5.Increased scrimping on plastic, noticeable cavities left throughout figure...ahem leader class grimlock
    6. Does not match cgi dinobots colors are obviously off, no grimlock with at least 78% similarity with actual movie design
    7. Excessively simplified designs for voyager and leader classes- i getit for kids, but still...
