It's not the quantity but rather the quality of the dialogue.

This is it for me. I mean, I do get what they were going for; Hound is right at home in the heat of battle and enjoys it maybe a little too much, but it's just the way it was done that grated on me. It would've been nice to get some battlefield-banter between the 'Bots instead of just a bunch of non-sequitur one-liners from one guy, basically.

Seconded. I think the only reason why they had him talk so much is because of who the actor is compared to everyone else.

I think he went a bit on a speaking madness, improvised a bit. And they chose to use it.

I wish more people realized this than attacking that "fans are never happy" strawman.

I was fine with it. He does talk a lot but we all know that one guy we play games with (namely any FPS) that has to inform you of enemies coming from all ends and their actions. It worked as a nice contrast to Drift's 'calm but condescending' tone and helped flesh both him and Crosshairs out with how they reacted to him.

So it all went down like this:

*drift and crosshairs react to hound*
Crosshairs: fat big fatty fat fatass

Hound: SHUT THE F--- UP HOMEBOY!

Drift: I was expecting a giant hobo.

    Hound: YOU TOO NINJAFACE!

I also thought that he talked way too much. Actually, it's not the amount of talking he did it was the stupid one-liners.

I don't like people like that in real life who ALWAYS have a silly comment to say about every little thing and won't shut up. I don't mind the Transformers talking just not only Hound and pretty much only silly one-liners. Or even the way he acted. He antagonized the alien in the cage and then killed it when it spit on him... what? He bothered, it reacted, and he determined it had to die because he couldn't have just left it alone in the first place.

And as much as I love Bee, part of me is glad he talks using the radio because I am afraid that if they give him a voice he simply won't shut up. It would be constant one-liners like Hound + a lot of Bee immaturity.

Let's say in a weird alternate universe where the TF movies had a ton of TF dialog and characterization Hound showed up just as he is in TF4, I would still think that Hound spoke too much because of the whole silly one-liners. So I don't buy the whole "LOL look at this fandom, they ask for more robot dialog and now they're complaining about too much robot dialogue."

I am all for more robot dialogue and characterization but I will not pretend I didn't think Hound spoke way too much and just say "well at least he said something and we've been asking for robot dialogue."

I fully accept that a lot of people liked Hounds one-liners but the argument that we should all be happy with the silly one-liners just because he said something is weak. Some people just don't like that kind of character and might therefore think that Hound talked too much. All in all, I stilled really liked Hound but he is the least favorite of the three new bots because I just wished he would shut up.

LOL I have said before, I loved his enthusiasm though, it's just give other people lines too.

Not.At.All. Some of his lines here cheesy, but I loved them. I loved everything every one of them said. More Transformers in a movie about Transformers is a good thing.

Nah its more how stupid a lot of what he said was than the amount of things he said.
He told Drift to "please do it, please pull it", when D had a sword to his neck. "Wicked Warrior robot", gun in everyone's face with some silly line, pull the pin on my grenade before you pass it back to me... Just dumb stuff.

But it didnt really bug me. At least not as much as the humans saying things in attempt to tell the viewer how they should feel about things, like when Prime took his new form the ultra annoying lucky charms BF says "That was insane right? I mean awesome but insane!" which he said at least one other time in the movie so we knew what happened was awesome and insane, among other times where the humans explained how to react to a scene. But that's something present in most, if not all Bay movies.

Not THOSE Call of Duty players, blast it. There are some that go all out with the "We're being flanked/bring it!" kinda attitude that don't grate on ya. Then again I'm used to guys like Minsc or the Terror Mask in games (both voiced by Jim Cummings on an unrelated note) talking heavily, so maybe I'm just immune to it by now.

But yeah Douchey McBoyfriend could go take a walk off a plank. I smirked every time Cade and even Bee took a shot at him.

Hound proved that the more Transformers get dialogue, the better they are.

Yes he did. All the new Autobots sucked IMO. Especially Crosshairs.

He certainly didn't talk too much. And i hope that the transformers actually speaking continues in future movies. (Which should be obvious, but it's taken them three movies to figure that out.). However, I felt like most of the time when the transformers were talking, their "lines" we're never really directed at any one and just seemed to be hanging in the air. I think that the Hound character was most guilty of that. And no, I'm not talking smack on John Goodman, I think that he was a great addition to the movie and hope that he continues to be a part of the franchise. That's just my humble opinion though.
